Default Iraq: Frustration Continues, But Surge Gains Slightly in Court of Public Opinion

http://news.yahoo.com/s/rasmussen/20...egains20070803

Most American voters continue to favor plans that would remove all U.S. combat troops from Iraq early next year. But, most also say that's not likely to happen. That ongoing disparity is a key ingredient in the wave of pessimism gripping the country. At the same time, the Administration's Iraqi policy has made some slight gains in the Court of public opinion.

A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 55% of likely voters want U.S. combat troops out or Iraq early in 2008. Thirty-four percent (34%) are opposed to that approach while 11% are not sure. That's little changed from a month ago. Seventy-seven percent (77%) of Democrats want the troops to leave Iraq. That view is shared by 35% of Republicans and 49% of those not affiliated with either major political party.

However, just 25% say it's at least somewhat likely that the troops will come home while 70% say it is not. Thirty-one percent (31%) of Democrats say it's likely along with 25% of Republicans and 17% of unaffiliateds.

Twenty-five percent (25%) of voters now say the troop surge is working and another 26% say it's too soon to tell. A month ago, just 19% considered the surge a success and 24% said it was too early to tell. Combining those totals means that 51% are at least willing to give the policy more time. That's up from 43% a month ago.

Seventy-seven percent (77%) of Republicans say either that the surge has worked or that it's too early to tell. That view is shared by 51% of unaffiliateds and 28% of Democrats.

Sixty-nine percent (69%) of Democrats say the surge has been a failure. That assessment is shared by 44% of unaffiliateds and 19% of Republicans.

Overall, 31% of voters want troops brought home from Iraq immediately.

An earlier survey, found that a narrow majority wants to wait for the September report from General David Petraeus before making any major policy changes. A plurality of Americans has no opinion on Petraeus personally. Twenty-four percent (24%) have a favorable opinion while 35% have an unfavorable view.

Another survey found that nearly half of American voters believe the withdrawal of U.S. troops will lead to an increase in sectarian violence. Roughly the same percentage believe that when troops leave, the Iraqi people will still be better off than they were under the regime of Saddam Hussein.

Fifty percent (50%) of voters give the President poor marks for his handling of the situation in Iraq.

This national telephone survey of 800 Likely Voters was conducted by Rasmussen Reports August 1-2, 2007. The margin of sampling error for each survey is +/- 4 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.

Versus 97% for the congress. Hey Janett is this the 97% out of iraq poll I was asking you for? A little off the mark isn't it?

Dude, you ask why the house and senate have low rattings. The problem is this and remember you are one sided so you are like W and want to be a bully and like the neocons and you will never view or see things different because you have pretty much said you hate certain people and will always hate them. No matter if they do good or bad, you do not like them. I know you hate Ron Paul also as he does not stand on the side of the neocons.

Both parties promise things and they do not do it because it is a money thing and power thing and both go hand in hand. This is why politics is corrupt and on both sides. The people are mad at the neocons for the war and lot's of other things they have done or not did in the last 7 years. The Dems had a message like W, god bless America and beat W and Rove to the faith and morals punch. The voters want to hear God Bless America and then they jump on the band wagon.

Now, they elected the Dems on God Bless America and the Dems hard line on the Iraq war and the people demanding the war be over and stopped. The Dems have not pushed for the war to be stopped. They will continue to drop in rattings because the public does not support the war. The Dems was elected because of the lies by the neocons and the Dems said they would help bring our troops home. They are not. They are beating around the Bush.

Why? Because it is a politics game on both sides. The Repubs and the Dems both play it good. It is sad when you send people to war on lies and they die for it as they fight for us and then in both parties they do nothing about it because they do not want to ruin their political career. It is atleast two guys that are against the war and will stand up and say it and even go against their own party with their morals and beliefs. That is Dennis K(Dem) and Ron Paul(Repub) but they have no chance in this election as big oil and big pharm companies won't give them a dime. The money is going to pour in to, what can you do for me, if i give to you? Do you now understand politics dude? That means the money will flow to Hillary, Rudy, Thompson, Edwards and maybe some to Obama. If Mutt Romney or McCain show a glimmer of hope, then big business will por some into them. In the end, no one carries as big of a stick as Hillary, no one in this election and also way up there with her is Rudy and Fred Thompson. Thompson will have to dodge alot of bad things he has done and flip flopped on but in all honesty the money is going to pour to Hillary/Rudy. You play the game good, you get rewarded good.

The public is seeing this beyond republican, democrat, beyond faith and morals and behind the lies and they are getting pissed about it. So the public is mad at how W has screwed this country completely daily. They have also took it out on the Repubs because the Repubs was scarred to talk bad or go against the neocons, fearing it could cost their politcal career. Ron Paul has stood up and is a great man. The public is now mad at the Dems because they have not stopped the war and pushed harder to stop. They are afraid it will cost their political career. Dennis K has stood up like Ron Paul but not many will stand like these two men.

In 10 diffent things the Dems was trusted more than the Bushie administration. This was even included taxes. They had higher marks than Bush. Bush has cost the next president. The next pres will be a Dem. Bush has cost ever Repub running, except if Paul could make it, but no way big money pours to his campaign because he can't be bought off and they do not want him.

The cat and mouse game is not done. The Dems are going to push on bringing out all the lies and corupution in this administration and W is going to try to do all he can with his power to have a few cover all up for him and keep many from speaking. We can't take back the lies and in the mean time people is being killed in the middle east. Both parties need to wake up and do what is right. Remember dude, the neocons could come and take a dump on your head and you wouldn't mind and Ron Paul or a Dem could come help clean it off you and help you and you would hate them for it. You have already said, you are one sided and you hate, so what is to debate with you?

Funny coming from you. I have no hate for Ron Paul. Only a few dems, they anger me for many reasons. The rest of your twaddle we've discussed. You don't read well so you keep repeating yourself.
