The original link I added to the album vanished, so here's this:

Evans Blue's new(er)(its around a year old) cd, Evans Blue. Not bad at all. This is I believe the second new lead singer theyve had since Matisan left to join parabelle. They are a little mainstream sounding for most of this board but not bad at all. They sound alot like Five Finger Death Punch now.

i actually thought Shadows Fall sucked live.. coincedently saw them at 5fdp , and comparing the new Evans Blue to them is a huge stretch... And it's a shame they seemed to figure out a good sound, but the new singer is avg at best.. a couple good tracks, but the vocals are terrible on some others. and Matysans band is CRAP.
And one band I like that severly was a let down live, is Mudvayne... not too good.. which is odd, because Hellyeah is okay live.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHIZUU90CiM tell me that guy doesnt sound like the lead singer of 5fdp. And I feel the same way about Evans blue, the problem is Matysan was out of his damn mind. And yes parabelle sucks.

I've been listening a lot to the Byrds' debut album on vinyl.
Very groovy stuff. Folk-rock just about got it right. You can be hip without getting into a meaningless contest about how distorted you can make your instruments, and actually sing about neat stuff, too.

during the talking parts at first he does a lil.. but Ivan has a great voice all away around.. the problem with that guy is the songs seem to blend together.. other than that one, bulletproof, and erase my scars...they all seem the same... and I hope they go more on the direction of erase my scars in the future.. thats a good song

Just so were clear, I know EB is nowhere near as good as 5fdp. I was just pointing out that he does sound like Ivan a little. On a related note, 5fdp's cover of bad company is one of my favorite covers ever. Since everyone does a ton of covers now, might as well do them well.

Agreed. I actually like the Brie Larson version better than Metric's (I mean the version played in the movie as opposed to the one in the soundtrack). Both are good though. My favorites are I'm So Sad, So Very, Very Sad, We Hate You Please Die, We Are Sex Bob-Omb, Garbage Truck, and Threshold, along with Black Sheep.

There's a lot of stuff in the news recently about one of my absolute favorite musicians, a fellow by the name of Phil Ochs. Last week a documentary about his life called There But For Fortune debuted in New York City and is about to go on a little spring tour, including two dates at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin on 2/21 and 3/2.
At first I was not particularly excited based on stuff that is not worth getting into, but word is that the movie is totally excellent and I could not be more excited at this point. I doubt there are very many fans of urban topical folk music, but if it intrigues you, the dude is pretty freakin' incredible.
EDIT: Wonderful news for me today, as it's been announced that it'll spend a week at the Texas Theatre in downtown Dallas, an ironic and strangely perfect location considering that theatre's place in the Kennedy assassination. January 28th - February 3rd. If anyone is interested in a largely forgotten singer/songwriter that shouldn't have been, or even a completist of 60s history, don't miss it.

Never been much of a fan of the Decemberists (too, erm... prog for me), but this is a great album. Much more roots than their previous efforts.

I agree, Kiro. On their previous albums, there are about 2-3 standout songs and a lot of, well, weird stuff.
But this one is solid from start to finish.
Speaking of solid from start to finish, I picked up Mumford & Sons the other day. I know I'm behind on that, but it's great!

I LOVE Red, and have for a long time(Im also pretty sure Ive mentioned both of their other CDs in this thread.) How is this one compared to the last two? Their cover of Ordinary World is one of the best cover songs in recent memory.

I liked it. They don't really change up their style at all, in my opinion...its still classic Red. Unfortunately, there isn't really a stand out song that I want to listen to over and over. End of Silence had Break the Silence and Breath into Me, I&I had Fight Inside, but while there's several I really (Faceless), there's nothing that has way more plays than the others. That's my only major criticism, and for that reason, I'd rank it their "worst" album. Still good, you should still get it.
