I expect MLB to announce by noon that the game will be postponed til tomorrow. Selig doesn't want 2008 to happen again.

Sucks, but a wise choice if field conditions will be questionable at best.

If we don't play today and Colby fails to close out game 6 tomorrow (let's definitely hope that doesn't happen) I would almost guarantee Wash starts Holland in game 7 and Carpenter doesn't start (though he might be available in the bullpen). La Russa seems to be quite similar to Leyland regarding not running guys out on short rest, not overtaxing bullpen arms, etc so as long as we don't have 2 rain outs, we should avoid Carpenter outside of 1 or 2 innings.
I could be wrong, definitely, but he is old school and everyone has likely heard about the bullpen mixup last game where a guy he had scheduled to rest was accidentally called in. He made him throw four balls intentionally and took him out.

Wash has already said, fairly definitively, that Harrison starts game 7 no matter what. I'd be real surprised to see him change that.
Conversely, Larussa was very coy and smirky when asked about Carpenter and Game 7.

Yeah, actually just read that. In fairness, you HAVE to say that now. Could definitely change if the rain out happens.

It would be Game 7 of the World Series. LaRussa WILL pitch Carpenter on 3days rest if he believe that is his best choice.

Typical Washington speak to support his guys...Could be that he is on a short leash, with Holland available as needed in the 2nd or 3rd if things are not going well for Harrison...
Hopefully it won't come to that and that Lewis can finish the Cards off...

From a friend in STL: "Local forecast at noon said rain will stay south and the game should be played with no issues."

I wonder if Napoli's ankle is going to swell up like a balloon...At least he was able to finish the inning, but I wonder how it's going to affect him here on out...

I wouldve liked to see someone other than Lewis bat in that situation, but cant argue too much with the 1-2-3 fifth.
