Actually, we've been harping them for their missed opportunities to get 5th seed or better, but sure I'll take "not 8th".

So we at least get 7th seed with a Lakers win, Correct?

The crazy thing is, there is one day left in the season and there are still three possible teams we could play in the first round.

Remember that chippy Dallas blew in Memphis? Think about those home losses against the Wolves and Warriors that Jazz fans are lamenting right now.

It's a good night, let's hope it's an even better one tomorrow night. But a big sigh of relief can be taken tonight.

They just had a stat:

It's at least 3-4 years that the Jazz have had 20+ losses on the road...that's actually shocking to me. I know they have a great road record, I guess I just wasn't aware it was a habitual problem for them.

The Mavs really lucked out that Utah decided to randomly lose two games at home (where they've been awesome all year) to WC bottom feeders.

We have a shot at beating Denver or Houston. Especially Houston.

I think that's probably our best match up, but I hope it doesn't happen. I'm quite fine with Game 7 being my lasting Spurs-Mavs playoff memory for the next 10 or so years.

Even if they did match up...it'd take something pretty magical for Game 7 to fall out of the #1 spot. Winning it would be great, but it'd have to be in major dramatic fashion...that's how epic that 7th game was.

If the Mavs took the series, it'd be considered tainted...but I'll take a "tainted" series win to the 2nd round and laugh.

If the Mavs take the series and it's considered "tainted," it better not be the Spurs fans saying that. If it is, I'll kindly ask them to go ahead and slap the "tainted" label on their 2007 title (when Amare missed Game 5) and their 2003 title (when Dirk missed almost the entire WCF).

Geez, I hope so. My San Antonio friend with the rich parents already promised me and a friend courtside seats in SA if we play them in the playoffs.

So its either Denver, Houston (but mavs will win the game tomorrow so it won't happen), or San Antonio correct?

Thanks LA. You just made my day.

So now that the 8th seed is finally out of the way, do we want our Mavs to stay at 7 or do we want them to move up to 6? And who do we want them to play in the first round??

I'm pretty sure everyone and their mother outside of the metroplex would say it's a tainted victory.

I hope they do, because I'm ready to point out their 1.5 championship trophies if that's the case.

Should have made a GDT for this - I can't remember the last time I saw this many posts for a game that didn't involve the Mavs!

Looks like LA didn't want to play us in the first round after all (but only because they obviously feel comfortable taking Utah...)

The game tells us a lot about the Lakers. They're not afraid of anybody. They have too much pride to just throw away a game. Although I still hate them when they play the Mavs, I have to respect them for who they are.
