Back to reality. We know Green will be in Miami next season, because that's where Whiteside signed.

Mark Cuban says he wouldn't sell Mavs for any price: 'What do I need $3 billion for?
But it's still too early to say... Gotta see what happens with the rest of free agency, Dirk.

It depends on who he sold it to. But i'd probably be neutral.
Cuban was once a gutsy, fun, risk-taking owner.........he's the opposite of that now.

Well he's definitely still risk-taking. The problem is, they're really dumb risks. And I'd say he's still very "gutsy" although being "gutsy" can be a bad thing if it isn't backed by good judgment.

I think the idea of him offering Wade 20mil is gutsy enough.

I'm not sure if gutsy is the right word offering this Dwayne Wade who's been on minute restrictions 20 million a year. We have all kinds of holes one of the few positions we're ok at is shooting guard with Matthews it makes no sense, and to top it off it's Dwayne Wade.

Happy short term, neutral long term. Odds are good that we'd get worse ownership, or worse yet-- an ownership group like the Suns have.
+it's a win guy who knows how to win
= it's a win guy like Cuban who can't get us to winning
- it's a completely apathetic owner/group who just wants money

You don't know how the roster is going to fill out yet. Wade and Dirk closing a game together as a team I'll take than Parsons closing games here in the clutch.

Are we really playing the Wade game? Some of you must be gluttons for punishment and despair. All leverage and he damn sure wouldn't choose Dallas when they're better destinations on the table.

No kidding. I'm pretty skeptical of that rumor anyway.

What I know is Wesley Matthews is signed for 17 million a year for 3 more years. Now if it comes to a sign and trade with Miami Wes for Wade or we trade Wes for something then I could kinda understand but it makes no sense at all to have Wes + Wade both shooting guards taking up 37 million dollars. The idea of Wade in a Mavs uniform makes me throw up in a mouth a little anyway.

What I want to know is, are the Mavs even trying to be competitive for the remaining free agents, or are they planning to tank?

What is the cap floor? like 85 million? Max out Dirk and Deron and trade for Tyson, then we have a big 3....ish.

Its going to be interesting to see what approach they take because they are going to have a tough time getting to that 90% threshold they have to get to.
What about the Allen Crabbe's of the world? Do they have a home?

We're one of four teams who offered Wade 20mil. While the heat offered him 10mil.

That's not accurate:
Quote:
The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Friday evening that Wade, who turns 35 in January, has begun being heavily pursued by four teams — the Chicago Bulls, Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets and Milwaukee Bucks – with offers of two and three years in length and upward of $20 million per season.
|
We're one of four teams talking to him, but only one offered $20m and there's no mention of which team... From I've been able to piece together on Twitter, it was the Bucks.

I really think they dont know yet. Theyre waiting until all the free agents are picked through and then see if they can salvage together the players to make a run at the 10 seed. If not, then I think they talk to Dirk about maybe looking elsewhere.

Wade rumors should not be taken seriously. Wade started to build leverage through Mavs. It was reported that his people had contacted the Mavs. Nothing else has been confirmed.
Sources inside Mavs confirmed that they were approached by Wade's agent. This is the only information that everyone goes by thinking that Mavs have in any way interest in Wade. Mavs response probably was 'not interested, click' and people still consider Mavs as his possible suitors. No talks, no meetings have been planned. No real rumors.
By the way, Mavs Front Office is probably on the vacation at the moment. I think other than Conley and Whiteside, they haven't really had a talk with anyone. Brief call with Batum and that's it. I'm telling you, Cuban has something planned for the lockout...

Cuban doesn't have a plan. Actually he does. It's just not a good one. He wants to hire average vets for 1 year contracts. That's been his plan since the championship.
He is like a guy at a strip club who thinks if he brings enough bills, she'll fall in love with him. He loves to dream about those free agents. He loves to pretend he has a shot at it. But he's really just a joke to the rest of the league.

Letting Parsons walk for a 1% shot at Conley and Whiteside? Letting Tyson, Aminu, Monta walk for a shot at DAJ? Overpaying Parsons to try to pry him from Houston?

As if this free agency hasn't been bad enough already now I have to put up with the possibility of wade in a mavs uniform lmao. Good thing he's just being his asshole self and using us for leverage.

Trading down to save 500k in hopes of signing Dwight with a friggin cartoon and could have had Giannis.
They need to hire an asset management guy. My goodness at the talent Cuban has let walk for ZERO return.(outside Rondo situation)

(sorry for the trifecta post) It looks like we're signing someone, Dirk. He's staying
From Eddie Sefko, Dallas Morning News:
A source said that Dirk Nowitzki remains as committed as ever to the team in spite of free agent shortfalls thus far.
Also, from ESPN's Dallas beat writer, usually a reliable source:

And of course breaking up a championship team for a shot at the triple Ds or whatever Fish was calling it. So yeah, still not risk averse.

It depends on what the approach is here. If Dirk stays they'll keep Wes and Devin who are our best chips. Maybe they'll go full rebuild with Dirk on board, just hard to see it. They could try the Portland approach and go quick, young rebuild. Hell, the could sign all three young Portland free agents and really follow their blueprint

I'm personally hoping for the Boston approach. Hoard draft picks and unselfish young role players on friendly contracts. It hasn't paid off just yet but I have a feeling within the next couple of seasons Danny Ainge is going to look like a genius.

@AlexKennedyNBA: The Mavericks, Timberwolves, Pelicans and Spurs are among the teams that have expressed interest in unrestricted free agent Thomas Robinson.
