Default Chargers Release Tomlinson

Quote:

By BERNIE WILSON, AP Sports Writer 1 hour, 45 minutes ago

SAN DIEGO (AP)—LaDainian Tomlinson(notes) was released Monday by the San Diego Chargers, ending a brilliant nine-year run in which he became one of the NFL’s greatest running backs.

The move had been expected for some time. Tomlinson, who turned 30 last summer, was injured early in the 2009 season and finished with 730 yards on 223 carries for an average of 3.3 yards per carry, all career lows.

Tomlinson was due a $2 million bonus in early March, which all but guaranteed he would be cut loose as his role diminished on a team that thrived with a pass-happy offense.

L.T. wasn’t immediately available for comment. He said after the Chargers’ playoff loss to the New York Jets that he felt he could still play for a few more seasons.

LT is indeed one of the greats!!!

He'll wind up on another team at a vastly reduced price tag...hopefully he gets on a team that will win a title before his days are done.

Off the top of my head I can't think of which team would benefit most by having him join them as a role player for a title run...but I do see him playing a few more years.

Just hope he doesn't get in the way of the Cowboys run in 2010/2011!!!

He was so bad last year, don't blame them. Seriously, he was terrible. Julius Jones-esque.
