Old 97's
Hootie & the Blowfish
although - I left my CD changer thingy in the house the other day, forgot to take it out the truck, had to listen to the radio today. Went for 92.5 and was glad to hear some Pink Floyd. I listen to so much stuff that I go through phases where I forget some bands exist.

That's the good stuff Nellie... the synthesizer stylings of Jan Hammer combined with the greatness of Phil Collins. It just doesn't get much better than that...

Veruca, do you like the Go-Betweens?
Am going to buy Cursive and Rainer Maria this week in attempt to tide me over 'till the new Radiohead.
In CD player now: Willie Nelson's greatest hits, disc two. God, that man is an absolute genius. How can you not love a pothead, tax-evading country singer?

I think i'm actually a bit young for the Go-Betweens (not really an excuse I know, as a hell
of a lot of the music i listen to is pre-1981).
I'm familiar, but I don't really know enough of their stuff to say I dislike them...if that
makes sense.

I knew that Veruca . My post was basicly directed to you. Actually I love seeing them live so much that I think about going to the Berlin concert too, which will be in a few days. Or maybe the one at Strasbourg which is much closer to where I live (Mainz).
Did you actually buy the new White Stripes album? If so, how do you like it?

I know its your personal opinion but if you think that he is the greatest you probably only listen to the stuff on the radio or MTV (which 95% of sucks). I have both of Kanye West's CDs and they're great but Chaffy is right, he is far from the top of a greatest rapper list.
Anyway, just bought:
Atmosphere - You cant imagine how much fun we're having.
Casual - Smash Rockwell
Cage - Hell's Winter
Aesop Rock - Fast cars, danger, fire and knives
The Perceptionists - Black Dialogue
DJ Quik - Trauma
Danger Doom - The Mouse and the Mask

RE:What is spinning in your CD player right now?
I seriously dislike MTV because I mainly listen to rock and they NEVER play rock. They play some crappy punk stuff that they pawn off as rock but they never play rock. Thats not to dis punk either because good punk is fine too but they play crap like good charlotte and call it rock. He is by no means the greatest rapper ever. I listen to a good deal of rap that my friends in football listened to because thats really the only exposure I had to it. I grew up in corsicana which is a tiny country town. Kanye is my favorite living rapper. I am curious who you think is better that is alive. Im excluding the NWA guys because I dont like Ice Cube's rapping and honestly I forgot about Dre. If you are arguing Dre thats cool because he was and still for the most part is awesome. Snoop Dog can also be put above Kanye without any complaint from me though I dont really care for him. If you are arguing people like Eminem or Fifty cent then you just need to stop. TI and Nelly I like alot but wouldnt classify as better than Kanye. Trick Daddy and some others are also good but I just dont like them as much. I should have said my favorite instead of the best. I would edit it but since its been qouted twice it really makes no since to do so. I love music discussions though so its ok. BTW has anyone else even heard of blindside?

Dr Dre needed good production and other popular artists (i.e. snoop, eminem, nate dogg) in his songs to sound good.
Can you name a classic Dre song where it was only him in the song?
It was too obvious on his albums that all of his time went into his beats and not his lyrics (a lot of the times sounded recycled from previous songs).
Eminem has the skill to be good but he trys so hard to be funny that it has gotten really annoying. And we all know by now how much he hates his ex-wife and mom and how much he loves his daughter. He has ran out of things to rap about and it really showed on his last album.
50 cent is horrible and Trick Daddy!??

if i can get it free!

<< Moving, just keep moving,
Till I don't know what's sane,
I've been moving so long,
The days all feel the same,
Moving, just keep moving,
Well I don't know why to stay,
No ties to bind me,
No reasons to remain,
Got a low, low feeling around me,
And a stone cold feeling inside,
And I just can't stop messing my mind up,
Or wasting my time,
There's a mow, low feeling around me,
And a stone cold feeling inside,
I've got to find somebody to help me,
I keep you in mind,
So I'll keep moving, just keep moving,
Well I don't know who I am,
No need to follow,
There's no way back again,
Moving, keep on moving,
Where I feel I'm home again,
And when it's over,
I'll see you again,
Got a low, low feeling around me,
And a stone cold feeling inside,
And I just can't stop messing my mind up,
Or wasting my time,
There's a mow, low feeling around me,
And a stone cold feeling inside,
I've got to find somebody to help me,
I keep you in mind.

Really it´s the same with me Veruca.
It reminds me of a certain part of my life and it´s very fitting right now again (which is a good thing I think, but sometimes I stop and I´m a bit sad about certain things...but then I simply keep on moving.)

Do you like the Music album Nellie?
If so, go out and buy anything by the Stone Roses, because I really
liked the singles the Music have released, but I thought the album
was a little weak....and they really just want to be the Roses!
Still, dissapointed I didn't see them when they were here in January.
I think they actually just played in Austin with the Vines & Youth Group (a band
who's drummer is very close to being the sexiest man in Sydney)...it might
have been last week, it might be coming soon...not sure of the dates.

Veruca, I know the Stone Roses...been around awhile. There are definitely similarities. The Music CD is a tougher listen then I expected. There is a lot of distortion to work through to actualy hear it...an acquired taste for sure.

How's the new White Stripes? I heard it at the record store the other day, but instead opted to buy the Rainer Maria CD, which is... ooh, I'll be diplomatic here... mediocre.
Anyone have it yet? Veruca, did you get it from your friend? "Elephant" got 5 stars from Rolling Stone, which always makes me nervous...

It's getting rave reviews everywhere, but it's worth it.
It's awesome actually. I thought White Blood Cells was good, but not
as good as De Stijl...we'll see how i feel about this one in a month though.
