Annnnnnd our new record that we'd need to make the playoffs? 22-9 (0.71) with 16 of the next 31 against playoff teams.

Memphis x3 (0-1)
OKC x1 (0-3)
San Antonio x1 (0-3)
Clippers x1 (0-2)
Denver x2 (0-1)
Utah x1 (0-2)
Houston x2 (2-1)
Indiana x1 (0-1)
Chicago x1 (0-1)
Brooklyn x2 (NA)
Boston x1 (0-1)
-----------------------------
We're currently 2-16 (0.111) against those playoff teams we will play again this season and 2-20 against playoff teams overall (0.090). Without Houston, we'd be 0-16 against playoff teams. Even if we are 1.000 against bad teams, we'll still need to go 7-9 (0.438) against playoff teams we are 2-16 against (0.111).

Other playoff teams we won't face again:

Miami 0-2
New York 0-2

It wasn't all Mayo's fault; How about allowing Korver to get that offensive rebound from a Josh Smith free throw? You just can't let that happen. And that Elton Brand 3 on 1 fast break blunder. Plus that first 2 minutes of the game made us play catch up all night.

Crowder is not a shooter. He is getting so many perfect rhythm shots that do not drop.

Crowder is nothing. A D-league guy with huge ego and small brain. Three 3s in 12min. Hell yeah...

Roddy, Wright and Dirk the impressive threesome for tonight. Wright and Dirk mainly on the offensive, Roddy almost exclusively on the defensive end. All three with a solid +/- as well.

Glaring hole after that, Collison on the verge, but everyone delivered a stinker tonight.

Mavs just aren't good enough. That is the long and short of it. I'm ready for this season to be over with.

We miss Kidd a lot, but think a lot of the late-game sketchiness still has to do with getting used to each other. It's such a great transition from the well-oiled two-man-game between Terry and Dirk and Kidds passes/decision making, but people forget that also developed over several seasons.

Man, what a tough tough loss. Mayo should have knew he was being trailed by a man. That was a dagger in the heart when I was watching that. Today I get my Dirk Jersey and I live in Atlanta. I'll still wear it, but it won't feel as good though. Oh well, next game...

Yeah but those several seasons still included 50+ wins and the playoffs. And while I agree that new faces can get some getting used to...the real problem is just lack of talent.

The real problem with late game is that Dirk still isn't close to himself, so they're still having to ask guys to do more than their capable during crunch time.

That and Mayo keeps making plays that make you think he's scared of the moment.

Dirk: "We've got to execute a little bit better. It sounds stupid, everybody says it, but what it comes down to in this league is execution down the stretch in big games and close games."

We can talk about Mayo's end of the game shortcomings all day, but the game was lost in the 1st qtr. Mayo and Collison's defense continue to be atrocious.

I've got to get it into my head that THIS Mavs team cannot close out games. I'm just so used to the Kidd/JT/Dirk led Mavs having the requisite composure to end games well.

I heard Carlisle say that but IMO that is him not wanting folks to get all over mayo. Down 10 nothing when two layups were blocked didn't lose that game. That game was lost in the last five minutes.

That had to play catch up from there on out. I found all of the offensive rebounds given up by the Mavs just as bad as Mayo's 2 To's but no one pointed that out either.
