Hes 6-11, we just won a title with a non shotblocking center and he rebounds fine. In fact getting away from gasol and playing with dirk, i expect a double double from him.

Lakers fans will be fine at the end of the day, they didn't acquire this te just to sit on it.

This is my original reaction but then I started thinking that this might be Cuban trying to put a package together for Paul and then I had this reaction:
Quick someone knock me back to Earth!!

Non rebounding? Man are you the ultimate pesimist we land LO for nothing and you hate it. He average 10 rebounds per 36 minutes on a extremely good rebounding term. In simple terms: he is a good rebounder.

Holy effing hell yeah! Granted I say that without yet knowing what picks/prospects Dallas gave up...but Odom is a terrific player with an incredibly friendly contract, and this is a hell of a move.

Its been said this is a straight salary dump (in other words we couldn't find a taker for LO and he doesn't want to be here anymore), as for the exception its not big enough Hedo.

Okay then...I completely disagree with you. I've heard his natural position is small forward and he plays like one.
Antoine walker had 8.3 Rebs and 14.0 points for the Mavs and he was a complete cluster. I'm not saying odom will be but if he's playing center at the end of games I think we are screwed. He will probably feel the same.

Lakers Beat Writer Mike Bresnahan has a source saying it's a straight salary dump. https://twitter.com/Mike_Bresnahan

...have you ever watched Lamar Odom play outside of 4 playoff games against the Mavs?
Great, great move by the FO crew. Very excited about this one, especially given his contract status. Well done. This is a pretty salty roster (and we aren't done yet):
Dirk
Kidd
Terry
Odom
Shawn
Haywood
Dalembert (?)
Rudy
VC
Cardinal
Roddy
Brewer
Ian
Shawn

Sorry that my latest pessimism about Tyson has colored all opinions. I don't hate him. I'm glad we got something for chandler.
BUT...if he's slated to play center at the end of games then you are correct, I hate him.

Shades of drew gooden/bass at the five. If that's where he is at the end of games I hate it.

What?! Bass is 6'8". Odom is 6'10" with very long arms. And Gooden's game could not be any different than Odom's.
I think you need to take a step back and re-calibrate here.

You have now compared Lamar Odom to Antoine Walker, Drew Gooden, and Brandon Bass. Maybe you should take a step back, let things simmer for a bit, give your perspective a chance to adapt. I know you love the team. You should be happy about this. It's a crazy good move.

Also this gives us the option of keeping dirks minutes low in this helter skelter season without suffering all that much.

So, assuming VC's gets done as well.
From Jeff Caplan ESPN post, this is what our roster is shaping up to be with 1 spot open.
PG: Jason Kidd, Rodrigue Beaubois, Dominique Jones
SG: Vince Carter, Rudy Fernandez, Jason Terry
SF: Lamar Odom, Shawn Marion, Corey Brewer
PF: Dirk Nowitzki, Brandan Wright, Brian Cardinal
C: Brendan Haywood, Ian Mahinmi

I'm quite sure that nobody who actually watches the NBA would ever compare Lamar Odom to any of the players you've listed in your previous posts.
You know I like you and everything, so I'm really not trying to be rude, but like I (and gmc) said...maybe take a step back and look at this one again tomorrow and see how you feel?

Only if he's asked to play center at the end, if so I think he's being setup to fail. I do like that he was obtained for chandler as we got a good asset for chandler.
I will be interested to see how he fits. He looks like a smalish power forward to me..he's a very talented player. He doesn't seem quick enough to cover real small forwards and the dirkster is going to cover the power forwards. I hope I'm wrong but he seems like an odd fit to me. As a reserve great, he'll really help out the second unit.
My thinking always however goes to the ending team and I do not see how he fits there at the moment.

Maybe for a center?
Terry for Kaman works. Not sure if there's much incentive to do it on LA's part though.

I believe that folks who value size and defense at the end of games will agree with me, how's that...Charles just happens to be one of them.

Why? JET's got the right contract, fits well in the Mavs' backcourt as long as Kidd's around, and spent the early part of last summer making LeBron James his bitch.

I'd disagree a bit and say the PG position is the "weakness"
You could have a variety guys who have experience playing the 5. It gets a little more shaky at the point guard position.
I know there's guys who could fill in the position, but I still see that as a little more of a concern.

Bizarre and totally unexpected. Odom has skills but I really worry about his fit here both as a personality and a player. Even if he's amazing, he plays 4/3. Dirk is our big 4 guy and Marion is a 3/4. Not a lot of room for him unless he's our center.
Really rules out daly too. Don't know if daly fell through first or this was just too good but the trade piece is gone.
Still, I like that our experiment is consistently leaving next summer open

JET is the Mavs' best SG. The team is not going to trade away their best SG, who's got an expiring contract, because of a minutes crunch.
