Default The OFFICIAL 2010 Dallas Cowboys Dumping Ground

This news doesn't belong in the head coach thread, so I made a new thread for everything else Cowboys-related:

Tony Romo is candidate for IR

The Cowboys are on the verge of making a roster move and it could involved any numbers of players, including quarterback Tony Romo.

This potential move is a result of the injuries along the defensive line. Marcus Spears (calf), Sean Lissemore (ankle) and Jason Hatcher (groin) are out for an undetermined length of time, and the Cowboys need to find some depth at this position.

As it stands now, Jay Ratliff, Igor Olshansky, Stephen Bowen and Josh Brent are the only healthy defensive linemen. Brent, Ratliff and Bowen can play both line positions, but it wore Ratliff and Brent down in Sunday's loss at Green Bay.

The Cowboys are looking at lineman Jeremy Clark to add depth. He was with the Arizona Cardinals but released before the start of the regular season.

If the Cowboys add Clark or anybody else to the active roster, someone has to either get cut or placed on injured reserve. Though he wouldn't want it to happen, Romo is a candidate for IR because he's out until late December with a broken collarbone.

Putting Romo on the IR, instead of hoping for his return late in the season, would send a message that the Cowboys are saying the season is over, though it is already evident with the firing of Wade Phillips.

What might happen is the Cowboys cut an underachieving young player such as Leon Williams or Brandon Williams.
