How super can the team be if they have some waiters filling in for shooting guard?

So is the draft if you think about it. Cleveland keeps on winning #1 picks whether they have any business doing so or not!

That would have to be Waiters unless they picked someone else up. I'm not a big fan of Waiters.

Cleveland didn't build a super team in 1 year (if that's what they are…I'm not convinced). They've spent four years sucking - and enjoying an unprecedented run of luck in the draft lottery - to get back to the point of contending in the East. Everything came together for them this summer, but for that fan base I guarantee you this has felt like a very long rebuild.

This. I don't see anything wrong with the way Cleveland has become relevant again- nor do I see it as any indication of the CBA being a farce. It IS a farce, but not because of anything Cleveland has done.

To add to that, the only big addition they got via FA was LeBron, who they originally drafted. The only weird thing is that you usually don't draft a star, have them walk and then have them return.
Most bad teams draft a star and either get good and keep the star or watch the star walk away for good to a team like the Lakers.

No, no he's not. He's a big addition via trade. The Cavs gave up quite a bit actually. Two #1 picks from consecutive years and a future first rounder.

Semantics aside? A trade is a trade. A signing is a signing. (Marlo's name is Marlo's name )
Seriously though. We would likely feel different about the Parsons acquisition if we had to trade for him rather than signing him outright. Wiggins was quite an asset to give up. In my opinion his floor is Andre Igoudala.

It's been said already but
1) He didn't go to Cleveland in free-agency, it was a trade
2) It cost them two consecutive 1st overall picks, which they only got by being awful and also incredibly lucky. It also cost them a future first, which may end up being in the 20-30 range when Cleveland is good.
4) No one is arguing that Love isn't a significant piece, but the CBA didn't cause them to get him. Nor was the CBA written to prevent super teams. In fact, it actually made it easier in some ways.
It's strange for a team to get their star player back, particularly after being awful for so long (usually they either leave for a bigger team for good or see success and stay), but Cleveland didn't work out an evil plan to dump their star for a few years just to tank and get first rounders to build a superteam when their star came back. That's the only way the league would have something to say.As it is, they used all the assets they had from being bad to get a little better and then got lucky in free-agency.

Rep for the Marlo GIF. The Wire was one of the greatest shows I've ever seen. (Yes, I know this has absolutely nothing to do with this thread...)

Parsons did not play at all last night for USA Basketball vs the Dominican Republic and only played about 5 min. against Brazil. Do you think he is going to be one of the 4 cut today?
I have mixed feelings about it - would have loved to watch him play to learn more about his game but on the other hand I want him rested and ready to go for us.

From what I read Sarge has the 15th guaranteed contract, and it is a two year minimum contract. My guess is it is a team option on the 2nd year, but I haven't seen it yet. I'd personally rather have Sarge since he at least provides us with another big body.

Likely 15.
Since the jump, it MIGHT have sounded off, but Griffin's financial commitment wasn't big in the big scheme of things. It basically was a commitment to Griffin, but mainly through putting him in Frisco. For me, there were better options on the market, but they went with the incumbent.

Sarge impressed me in the summer league. He looked like a man among boys. Not to say he's ready to be an NBA backup...but as your forth big, when injuries strike, I think he is fundamentally sound. He has decent footwork, and he will battle. He's strong enough. I don't cringe when I see him take off the warmups.

Double Post-as dreaded as a comment from Randy Galloway.
Is he still working in DFW? I've been in New Mexico for the last 3 years, and his negativity is one thing I don't miss.
I miss Norma's, but nit Randy.

I'm happy with that.
If everyone is healthy, we shouldn't need him so he can keep practicing, but if either Smith or Chandler get injured, that bench looks REALLY anemic, particularly because Wright is situational at best at center and has had a few injuries himself. With Smith/Chandler/Wright's injuries, you need to go deeper than 2-3 players.
I love the potential of Griffin, but we just have way too many players that can play the SF with Parsons getting 38mpg, with Crowder, Aminu, and Jefferson all potentially backing him up.
I like Johnson's energy and role as a bruiser, but he's just not talented enough and we have Dirk/Chandler/Aminu/Wright to cover that position.
Sarge may be the least talented of the bunch but at 6'10.5", he's at least got the size to handle one of our weaker positions (when measured by depth). He also seems to be a hard worker, a solid teammate and a good guy to scrimmage against.

Does it bug anyone else as much as it bothers me that 3 of the 4 guys who were cut were white? Now there is not a white person on the whole team. I am sure Kevin Love would have made the cut had he decided to stay on the team, but I am surprised that none of the other guys made the cut. I must say that I am happy that Chandler Parsons is not playing though as I would like him to risk an injury with a Mavericks jersey on instead.
Edit: for some reason I had no idea that Mason Plumlee was on the team. My mistake. I bet they felt the need to keep around one token white guy though when it probably should have been at least two. Had Kevin Love decided to stick around I bet they would have cut 4 white players.

You gotta be kidding. You think you can get a tan like that in Brooklyn? That's a golden spray on tan. He's no longer white.

Just checking the calendar:
Tomorrow marks the two-month period since the New York trade was made, meaning those involved can be used in a packaged deal.
I'm not saying anything is happening, but I'm just letting everyone know that the window/period will officially pass by.

first thing I saw when I clicked this thread... nearly had a heart attack. If this happens just go ahead and book Mavs vs Cavs in the Finals.
