@ShamsCharania: Minnesota has traded Jimmy Butler and Justin Patton to Philadelphia for Robert Covington, Dario Saric and a 2022 second-round draft pick, league sources tell me and @JonKrawczynski.

@ShamsCharania: Sources: Philadelphia's Jerryd Bayless has also been traded to Minnesota as part of Jimmy Butler deal. Covington/Saric/Bayless/2022 2nd for Butler and Patton.

@wojespn: Jimmy Butler and the Sixers fully expect to reach a deal on a long-term contract this summer, league sources tell ESPN. Sixers made deal with plans to add Butler to a Big Three with Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.

Think got this from a Ringer podcast. They said that GMs are very hesitant to deal stars within their own conference. But even then four 1st rounders look infinitely better. I assume Thibs wanted to absolutely get someone who can help now, which is the case with Covington and Saric. Why should he care about future when he won't likely make it past this season anyway? All he wants is win as many games as possible for his own résumé.

I actually don't think thats a bad deal...especially since Buter didn't want to be there and everyone knew it.

Covington is a very good player with a lot of similar skill as Butler and not as good of a scorer. Saric is a solid player who can stretch the floor and fit in well.

KAT
Saric
Covington
Wiggins
Teague

is actually a pretty solid lineup although the bigs may struggled on D since neither KAT or Saric are good defenders.

Covington's contract is also not bad at all.
