Mavs interested in Evan Turner
Just found this on the German Sportssite Sport1.de
PHILADELPHIA: The 76ers surprisingly had a strong start to their campaign, but somehow plan to give up their best player in Evan Turner. With 21,6 Points per Game the Forward is one of the best scorers in the NBA but his contract expires. According to "Fox Sports" the Dallas Mavericks are willing to give up a Draftpick and Shawn Marion.

Dont see the Sixers trading him right now the way he is playing. And IF they will try to get some better talent than we have to offer...Cleveland etc

Sounds like that is a REALLY old rumor... I don't think that sort of deal gets the trade done, considering we can't trade first round picks for the foreseeable future.
Also, as much as I love Turner's game, trading for him wouldn't really solve any of our problems. We need a great defender in the starting lineup like Marion.

I'd hate to see Marion go, but he's having a stellar season that teams would love to have

That's actually no a terrible idea except for the fact that Kidd-Gilchrist is guaranteed 5 million next season. I'm not quite sure the Mavs want that sacrifice that sort of cap space for him.

I wouldn't mind MKG either, but get ready to cringe with every shot he takes. He has the ugliest form in the NBA, by far. He makes Marion look like Jesus Shuttlesworth.

I've been pretty outspoken in my desire to add MKG to our mix... for all of his many shortcomings on offense, he would immediately become the best defender we have. It would be fantastic if we could get Gerald Henderson while we're at it.
In response to the Turner trade idea... I'd be thrilled if we could trade Marion for him. He's young, has a ton of potential as a #2 or #3 scorer, and has seemingly made the "third year leap" this season. Sign me up. Only problem is, unless Philly is willing to do a salary dump on him, it would be hard for us to come up with the assets that they want for him.

Kidd-Gilchrist isn't on the table - he's Charlotte's centerpiece moving forward.

Yeah, the idea would be a salary dump - looks like Philly is trying to clear space.

I think you're giving Charlotte way too much credit here.
I equate terms such as centerpiece and moving forward to having a plan.

Philly is definitely looking to rebuild and already have some of the pieces that they are working around (MCW/Noel).
Turner and Hawes are definitely on the block, but I'm not sure what the cost would be.

If they got Evan Turner to replace him, then I'm pretty sure they'd consider trading him. Not positive, but I believe Kidd-Gilchrist has been rumored to be available. Thinking it was Chad Ford who said it like a month ago for whatever that is worth.

Keep in mind that Marion said last year that he wouldn't report if he went to a team that is not a contender.

Sounds like another team's problem if we trade him.

Yup, not to mention that whatever team does trade for him is likely not in the playoff mix at all and is probably willing to buy him out or just send him home. I doubt his quote from last year will be a big factor in his value as a trade asset.

i think the same things!
i think lowry-ellis-MKG-Dirk-Asik(gortat) is a terrific lineup and not too much expensive on the cap.

I've always been a supporter of the idea to get something for Marion before his value disappears. That dude just refuses to age, but as expiring contract this is the last chance.
Looking at where he is in his career and the way we are not contending right now, he'll be probably gone in free agency in search for another ring anyway.

Turner is not a top-10 small forward, but he's a solid starter and an excellent 6th-man. If you can get him for a retiring Marion, you have to do it.

Looks like Turner cooled off a bit and the Sixers are trying to dump him as a Deadline Move.
Maybe we can get him for cheap.
Trix is playing very bad lately and that would be his replacement for the Future. Still very young and huge upside.
I know Cuban dont want to trade Vince or Trix but do you think either one + Ellington/2nd Rounder could land us Turner?

I'd love to add Turner but I don't think we have the assets to trade for him. I seriously doubt we can add a significant impact player by this time tomorrow without taking on future salary.

I don't know how we can keep acquiring sub-par defensive guys who are also sub-par rebounders for their position and end up an even decent team defensively and on the glass.

Completely agree.
Our best trade assets are expirings but Mark and Donnie have no intention of taking on garbage contracts (at least they shouldn't) unless an all-star caliber player is coming back in return.

Indiana has traded Danny Granger to the 76ers for Evan Turner and Lavoy Allen, league sources tell Yahoo.

Yikes, looks like we could have gotten Turner and Lavoy Allen for Marion and our Boston 2nd rounder. Indy beat us to the punch.

Don't think the FO was willing to part with that 2nd. Amazing that 2nd round picks hold that type of value these days.

An early second rounder is almost more valuable than a late first rounder these days. But I would have preferred the proven commodity (Turner) over a second-rounder. Just my preference.

We can still trade that second round pick for a better fit than Turner this summer.

Turner is a great pickup as a backup to George and Stephenson. Pacers need more firepower. Great move for them. Granger may be a better guy to throw at LeBron for 10mins a game defensively and better floor spacer but there is no guarantee he will be healthy for playoffs or is healthy right now for that matter.
Giving up Marion to get Turner would not have improved the team enough to make a difference this season. That's presupposing MBT even likes Turner in the first place. VC does just fine in the role Turner would have had here, for now.
