Wizards are 2-2 when Westbrook sits and 1-8 when he plays. Maybe Cuban was right?

Silas is doing an amazing job considering what that team was dealing with doing the Harden fiasco

Since the James Harden trade, the Houston Rockets have the highest-rated defence in the league and have won 63% of their games.

These guys have something to prove 😤

MVP at this point in the season?
Nikola Jokic*is filling up the stat sheet in basically every category this year.
NBA ranks this season:*2nd in Points, 3rd in Assists, 4th in Rebounds, T-2nd in Steals, 6th in Minutes, 1st in PER, Win Shares, BPM, VORP.
He is 12th in the league in defensive win shares, and 7th in defensive box plus/minus.
(Also T-1st in Turnovers)

Luka Doncic in January:
28.3 pts (47.5 FG%, 33 3P%), 10.1 reb, 10.3 ast, 6 triple doubles

For me the top three MVPs are Embiid, Jokic and Lebron. Luka unfortunately isn't in the conversation because the Mavs suck right now.

Rose to Knicks for draft picks and DSJ as ballast.

Rumor is that DSJ will be waived as he's on his last year and is not fully guaranteed. Is this the end of DSJ's NBA career?

Crazy how much he fell off a cliff after leaving Dallas. Hope he is able to catch on a team and keep playing.

Sadly I think DSJ's career is over. At least in the NBA. He can always play overseas, and he probably should. It's sad, and frankly inexplicable. The guy clearly has the talent not just to be in the NBA, but to be a far better than average player. But something is clearly going on with him mentally. I hope he figures it out and gets it together.

I think Casey can help him.

He's done a terrific job with D.Wright this year making him a decent starting PG.

I think if Casey can Smith playing down hill again and attacking the basket also getting out in transition he'll have a chance to actually stick in Detroit.

Update- Embiid and Lebron have pulled so far ahead of the pack that at this point I'll be shocked if one of them isn't MVP. Embiid might be the best player in the league this year. And even though his numbers aren't quite as gawdy as they've been in years past, Lebron is actually having one of the best seasons of his career- he has repeatedly put the team on his back and come up huge with crunch-time heroics. Last year there was a bit of chatter about whether or not AD was the real MVP of the Lakers.... that talk has pretty much been put to rest. Lebron is still the Lakers' (and the NBA's) alpha dog, even at 36 years old.

If I had to pick right now, I'd pick Embiid for statistical brilliance alone, but just barely.

Jokic is still amazing but he has Luka's problem. 27-11-9 is great but they aren't winning

I dunno if anyone is watching Lakers/Grizzlies right now, but Lebron is doing it again. The Lakers were down by as much as 20 earlier, but they clawed back in, and Lebron has hit about 5 ridiculous shots in a row, and the Grizzlies just look demoralized.

Over the Laker's last 15 games, they've shot 29.9% from three...
good for dead last in the league. Over that same stretch, they're 22nd in offensive rating and 29th in turnovers. Despite the many offensive upgrades, they've really struggled getting the pieces to fit.
And after Lebron's hot start from deep, he's 9 of his last 46. Even with a healthy AD and DS, their offense has been hard to watch.

This is killing the NBA. Defender in good position. Not making contact or reaching in. No defending it. They call for a ref review and the call stands. The NBA has a problem.

That should be an obvious offensive foul imo. Permitting offensive players to jump into defenders like that is horrible. SMH. I can't believe I've reached the point where the NBA is becoming tiresome for me to watch. :-(

yup that's garbage
defender has to have a place for their face to be geez...

no call or offensive foul
Brunson got called for an offensive foul for something that was much less than that the other night.

for that matter Brunson got called for a defensive foul on Kemba for running behind him on a 3pt attempt.

There's zero consistency and it's a terrible part of the game.

It’s one thing to call the foul, but to review it and say the call stands? That’s terrible. It’s like the refs don’t want to admit to making a bad call.

I really think it's inevitable that the league will make some rule changes to address this. It's probably the single biggest problem the league faces today, as far as actual on-court product goes. Obviously they won't go too far back in the other direction. They still want to favor the offense and have high scoring, fast paced games. But this is just too much.

StatMuse: Lonzo Ball has made more threes this season than: Trae Young , Luka Doncic, Jayson Tatum, Bradley Beal, Devin Booker, LeBron James. He also has a higher 3P% than all of the above players. pic.twitter.com/F8Olg4gCVl – via Twitter statmuse

Thought this was interesting for a guy not known for his shooting.

Kind of pointless to compare a guy who just takes settled and wide open 3s with all those go to guy scorer.

Give them the same shots Lonzo took and im 100% sure they all make more than Lonzo. Give Luka just the Seth Curry or Maxi Kleber type 3s and im pretty sure he shoots 40% or more from downtown...

Good point. I’m a little surprised that he’s made more than all of them though.

Adrian Wojnarowski
@wojespn
Sources: Houston is trading PJ Tucker, Rodions Kurucs and Bucks’ 2022 first-round pick back to Milwaukee for DJ Augustin, DJ Wilson and 2023 unprotected first-round pick. Houston also gets right to swap its 2021 second-round pick for Milwaukee's FRP pick unless it falls 1-9.

I find Houston’s 20 game losing streak amazing. Feel for Silas.

Delon is already leaving Detroit

Traded to Sacramento for Joseph and a couple of second rounders

Now that he’s in Sac, I kinda feel sorry for him

According to both ESPN and Stadium, the Magic are trading All-Star forward Nikola Vucevic to the Chicago Bulls for Wendell Carter Jr., Otto Porter and two first-round picks. The Bulls are attempting to make the playoffs this season while the Magic have been looking to trade players like Vucevic and Aaron Gordon after the franchise has struggled to be competitive.

Damn. That's a nice deal for both teams. Chicago got a big man without having to give up their core guys.

Orlando better get some better pieces for Gordon. Trading Vuc for a limited prospect and an expiring is tough to swallow. Not sure the pieces they'll get with the 1st rounders will justify it.

I guess we can take Zach Lavine off the table until at least the winter/next season.

Also, Boston getting Evan Fournier for 2 second rounders...nice little coup for Boston. Though he doesn't shore up their defensive issues...
