Lebron doesn’t care. He just wants to drink wine and tequila while chasing Kareem for the all time points record.

Adrian Wojnarowski: ESPN Sources: Celtics C Robert Williams has suffered a meniscus tear in his left knee and will minimally miss several weeks. Further evaluation today will help provide a timetable. Boston moved into first-place Sunday, and Williams has been immense part of NBA’s best defense. – via Twitter wojespn

lol... Bulls have taken a nose-dive since the first part of the season
sure they've had their share of injuries, etc. but so has everyone else.
harder to justify any MVP talk when his team is down to 5th in the East.
Embiid still likely front runner i'd guess though I think Jokic really is still the MVP

I wonder if LBJ sits out the rest of the reason to try and secure the scoring title.

According to NBA.com player must play at least 58 games this season to qualify for the scoring title.
https://www.nba.com/stats/help/statminimums/
LeBron has only played 55 games so far.

* The only exception to this rule will be if, at the end of the season, the player would have led the league in the category had he played the required number of games with his current category total.
For example, if Player A played 56 games and scored 1,590 points (28.4 ppg), Player A could still qualify for the league lead if his average (27.4) with that same point total (1,590) over 58 games was higher than any other player.

1,657 (LeBrons total points) / 58 = 28.6PPG

So Lebron played Friday and had 38pts, but is sitting out todays game with a sore ankle that he turned a few games ago? Figured he would be trying to help his team make the play in game and not worry about a scoring title.

Crazy that there are 4 players averaging 30+ points per game (Lebron, Giannis, KD, and Embiid)

Luka has been averaging 30-9-8 since the ASB. Too bad he came in out of shape and took months to get in shape.

Yep. If he had been in shape at training camp, he very well might have been MVP this year.

Nope. He made his bed and has somehow no clue how to teach defense anymore.

Ugh NM
They were leading for most of the game despite the Lakers shutting down Davis, Westbrook, and Lebron

Random, but I really love Isaiah Hartenstein’s game. I wouldn’t be against bringing him in in free agency and going BPA in the draft versus targeting a big. I think a center rotation featuring Powell and Hartenstein is more than enough with Luka running the show.

He’s solid. I think he would be good for 20 minutes per game off the bench for us. And he’s still only 23.
I too hope we go BPA in the draft no matter what. Cheap bigs are always available for the minimum.

Yes! It should be a rule that the Mavs always have a German big on their team in honor of Dirk...
but in all seriousness, we need to upgrade our bigs and we need to take a shotgun approach. We can get upgrades there by
1. trading THJ
2. through FA get some young and/or vet bigs for cheap
3. I believe we absolutely need a young big to draft and develop this year.

I think we have the smaller exception to use this summer most likely which is like 4.5m. Which is more than enough to get Hartenstein or someone of his ilk. Just a question of whether Cubes will pay the tax. But if they can get another big by trading THJ that’s probably their ideal scenario.
I’d be happy if we drafted a young big but wouldn’t want to rely on them to play serious minutes as a rookie, especially where we’ll be drafting. Usually takes them a couple years for guys like Claxton, Gafford, Mitchell Robinson to be consistent and not too foul prone

Haha I agree! I know a lot of people around here wanted Hartenstein in that draft. Can’t remember who we took instead or if he went before we picked in the second round that year.

Yeah i agree - i definitely want movement to upgrade our bigs through FA/trade by bringing an established vet (myles turner?) or a young big with upside - hartenstein sounds appealing.
But i def think we need to draft for future and take a young big to develop. As you mention it may take a few years for them to grow so the sooner we invest in someone the more likely they are to have an impact during Luka's prime the next 10 years

Mavs will be well over the cap, but will have 5.9mill (taxpayer MLE)
If he can be had for 5.9mill, I would be happy
1) Re-sign Brunson for as cheap as possible (15-20)
2) Use the MLE for Hartenstein (I think he'll get offers for 9-12 a year but who knows)
3) Pick up Green's team option
4) Use the draft pick on BPA or trade him to get rid of THJ/Bertans and/or upgrade the roster
5) Pray Burke opts out of Player Option
It's not a huge upgrade, but it is my best-case scenario based on our situation (we have a late first and a late second, few tradable assets, are well over the cap, and only have taxpayer MLE)

can we trade a future 1st instead of this year's? I like option 4 and would prefer getting rid of THJ if possible (i think he may have more value) But would still like the mavs to keep this year's 1st to draft a big to develop/grow

FRPs we can trade this year
2022 (after drafting a player)
2025
2026 (if we don’t trade 2025)
2027
We only have one FRP that we owe (2023 from KP deal) but that prevents the 2022 and 2024 picks from being traded until we choose a player. That doesn’t stop us from making a deal with the pick where we draft someone another team likes and trading their rights for something. We can negotiate before we draft and finalize after. The pick becomes player right after we draft and thus skirts the rule.
“You like Player X? If we draft Player X will you give us Player Y?”

Spurs now locked into 10th and zero reason to care tomorrow against us
But by winning, the Warriors also locked their next opponent into 9th so the Pelicans also have zero reason to care
At least Warriors are on a B2B
