Default My Dream Offseason

What is my dream offseason? There are 4 moves that I would make this summer. I want ya'll to tell me if these moves are realistic and more importantly does it help the Mavericks become championship contenders not only next year but beyond.

1) Trade Steve Nash for Elton Brand and Mario Jaric

With the Clippers luckily getting the #2 pick earlier today...they have a ton of options at their disposal. And ultimately I believe Brand becomes expendable. They already have an emerging Chris Wilcox as their PF. With the #2 pick...they could go with Dwight Howard or one of the Euros. What the Clippers need is a legit PG. This is where Nash comes into play. Nash, Magette, Richardson, Wilcox, that #2 pick...pretty good team.

As far as the Mavericks...I don't need to explain what Brand's value could be to this team. Jaric would be a nice young backup PG for the Mavs.

2) Trade Antoine Walker for Antonio Davis and Jamal Crawford

The Bulls are desparetely trying to get rid of Davis' terrible contract. To do so...we give them Walker's expiring contract...on the condition that they give us one of their young players. Their young players include Eddie Curry, Tyson Chandler, Kirk Henrich, and Jamal Crawford. Of those 4 players...I think the Bulls would be willing to part ways with Crawford...which is fine with me. He would be instant offense coming off the bench.

3) Resign Marquis Daniels (about 3 million a year)

4) Sign Greg Ostertag (whatever the remainder of the MLE...roughly 2.4 million a year) -> Read tomorrow's Dallas Morning News...pretty clear that TAG wants to be in Dallas.

Our lineup:

Nowitski Davis
Howard Jamison
Brand Ostertag
Finley Crawford
Daniels Jaric

Bradley, Delk, and Fortson round out the bench.

Your thoughts?

1. I think that Jaric is one of the worst point guards in the NBA, and I don't want him to play for the Mavs, even backup. The main problem I have with your whole proposal is that we become terribly weak at the Point. Marquis is a shooting guard and Jaric is terrible. In addition, I honestly don't think that we want Brand all that much. With him in the line up, we have to put Jamison on the bench which shouldn't happen. Jamison should be a starter.

2. I also don't think that we need Crawford much. Either we get Chandler or there is not trade with the Bulls.

3. Agree, but we'll prob have to offer him more.

4. I really don't like Ostertag and honestly hope that we can get a better center.
