Olynyk doesn't suck and Jones is still young. Olynyk shoots 3s pretty damn well for a 7 footer and can grab some boards.
This does allow us to sign another defensive player or a rebounder which is something we desperately need.

I'm not saying I love the trade by any means but it is better than signing a 33 yo player that has maybe, maybe one year left. One year that takes us nowhere and only takes up time from young players.

Jones is a minimum salary guy. HE doesnt impact salary
Olynyk is only getting 11.7 and can actually play. He's Powell but with a better three point shot.

We came into this offseason with 28mill in cap. Nabbing a backup PF/C for 11.7mill isn't going to cost us our entire cap.

That's assuming this deal is correct. Very well could include picks, other players, or could be completely wrong.

Absolutely is. I like Olynyk as a backup piece, but we don't take two years of 11-12mill off someone's hands for nothing.

Giannis did win an MVP when the Bucks offense was designed around him and his skills. It does make me wonder what he'd look like placed in the flow offense.

Mavs just need to back out of this trade if they can't win it. You could sign someone like Marcus Morris who is better than Olynyk and probably for cheaper.

I honestly don't dislike Olynyk, but I wanted us to make some big moves this offseason. Porzingis always seemed like a sure thing to me.

But if we didn't like dragic and couldn't do something else then why in the actual fuck did we not pull out of the deal. We're not beholden to the god damn heat. We have no need to help them. If anything fuck the heat, I'd be more tempted to screw them than help them if it's mavs neutral. Fuck this trade. All of this is contingent on the trade being as advertised.

What makes you think we don't like Porzingis because we're using our cap to get sweeteners by taking bad salaries?

Seems like a win-win to me. We get a decent backup for the PF/C spot to reduce minutes for KP while also getting a pick or two for unloading a bad salary from another team.

Of course, those sweeteners havent been announced yet.
