A problem I have with Carlisle.
I think Carlisle is a good coach who has done a solid job here.
He is a very solid X and O coach, but my biggest issue with him this season and last season is that there are way too many times this team does not play at a very high level of intensity.
I thought Avery was below average with his X and O's, but one area he did suceed was that this team played very hard almost every single night (up until the 2007-08 season).
There are just way too many games where it looks like we are just sleep walking out there and Carlise has the exact same befuddle look on his face.

This team is old. You can't expect them to always have it. Avery's Mavs were more athletic but dumb.

If we had been down by 15 with 8 minutes left in Game 7 of the NBA Finals, I would have been an absolute emotional, teary-eyed wreck. However, I am lovin the final score.

I have a problem with him too...he's winning too many games! Now dallas-mavs.com doesn't have anything to bitch about! no one knows what to do!

Another adverse side effect is rainy clouds like Flacolaco and Shaggy Dirk disappear.

Just look at any Hawks board tonight to find out what they think of their coach due to not calling a time out in the 4th quarter when the Mavs got hot and tied the game within a short amount of time after being down by double digits. Even the fans in the arena were begging for a time out, which thankfully never happened.
Does Carlisle make mistakes? Sure, every coach does. That's why Spurs fans question Pop and Celtics fans question Doc Rivers. What does that criticizm also tell us? It tells us that fans make mistakes as well and come to very strange conclusions as it relates to a coach's quality in case of being down during any given NBA game.
Carlisle is just fine.

can we just take this whole rep limit off? I can no longer +rep you...and for that post you are quite, quite deserving sore. Everyone needs to stfu and quit bitching about Carlisle. He is, by FAR, the best available coach for this team.

Hubie was questioning that as well. Of course he'd called a bunch earlier.

your first post - and it is a great one.
Thought that Carlisle coached a heck of a game tonight.
His use of timeouts were great, and calling the zone D
and sticking with it was a great move.

quote from coach Avery after last nights win
"My play calling was the driving force behind everything at the end of the game," he said. "The coaching performance i had was an all-time performance, especially for someone who's 44 years old. This is one for the ages. I don't think there's ever been a smarter coach in this league to tell Jason Kidd what to do. There may be a few equals, like Auerbach, Jackson and Pop, but none smarter."

RC did one thing which surprised me quite a bit. In the OT he stayed with the same lineup that closed the game. Kinda strange as most coaches go with the starters. He's a firm believer of sticking with what is working it appears. And dang if it didn't, JJB kept checking Joe Johnson into another 4 straight misses in OT.

Yup, but you got your numbers wrong. Scientists in Sweden calculated it, and a picture is actually worth 726.67 words.
Ironically, they also predicted that 84% of statistics are made up on the spot.

This is a veteran bunch, they motivate each other, Caron watching Dirk in game preps, is amazed, Kidd is a silent leader, but his sleeve speaks for itself. Rick is the perfect coach for this team as long as he has Kidd and Dirk. He's learned to give them both the latitude to lead the team on and off the court.
