Phew, i was going crazy here when it wasn't loading. Since i didn't have a forum section bookmarked, i was able to access a few sections by googling them. I wasn't logged in and not able to view threads but atm i seemed to be logged in just fine.

Eek, i should know better. Just re-installed windows, thought it was asking me install something for firefox. I clicked it but it didn't download anything, said there was nothing to DL. But i for sure gonna need to run a scan just in case.

Could the mods move this thread back to the General Mavs Section?

Sure, it doesn't belong there, but it's easier for people to find...

Yeah, that's basically the exact same story with me. Running a scan probably isn't a terrible idea.

This whole fiasco made me worry about something... DJ is pretty much out of the picture right? Sounds like people can't really get ahold of him. What if he just stops paying for the server or whatever... do the mods have access to that stuff?

I would hate for us to lose the site some day because DJ forgot about it and we had no way of fixing it. This is like my mecca for online forum b*llshit and mavs discussion.

Better late than never - thanks for getting the site working again!

Who hacked us - Fish, David Stern or LeBron's goons?

I...can't tell if you're kidding.

Just in case you're not, it's on the top navigation strip between Arcade and Search.

It's good to have the site back. Thanks to those who took care of the issues.

That said, I hope it's not a worrisome sign that a) it took quite a few days to fix or even react to the problems, b) the moderators initially apparently weren't in a position to reach the only known administrator, who hadn't posted in one and a half years at the day of the attack to make things a little more uncomfortable, and c) the administrator who eventually fixed the problem isn't even known by board veterans like LonghornDub.

Then again, it works, which is nice.

I, like another poster mentioned, had just reinstalled windows on my computer so I didn't have any anti-virus software, and the "java update" did 2 different things to my computer. It tried to install some type of anti-virus software, which there was no way to decline. The bigger issue, though, is that it wouldn't let me open any programs. Whenever I'd run some type of EXE file (Firefox, IE, WMP, etc.), it'd bring up a menu asking what program I'd want to use to open the file. Luckily for me, I cut off my computer before any additional crap was downloaded or installled, and a system restore and a Kaspersky trial later, things seem to be back to normal for me.

It worries me a little. I love this board a lot and I definitely noticed not having it for a few days.

I...can't tell if you're kidding.

Just in case you're not, it's on the top navigation strip between Arcade and Search.
No I actually wasn't kidding. I've never used it. I don't look up there much, except the top left for User CP. I obviously never look at the very top right, since I don't believe I've ever voluntarily logged out from here.

On another note, I'm not too worried about the board ever shutting down and nobody being able to fix it for a long period of time. I'm sure after this incident that Flaco, thiggy, sike, mary, etc. will all have DJ's email address/cell number just in case something like this happens again.

*edit* Edited once I read the other thread more thoroughly.

Lately the internet has been littered with this crap. I swear I've seen a half dozen sites with this sort of thing. And it's nasty. There's tons of rootkits roaming around, which in turn let in all sorts of trojan horses and etc. While I can't say for sure, I have a slight suspicion that the homepage one that afflicted dallas-mavs.com was an exploit of some sort. You can never be too up to date on your patches/anti virus definitions nowadays.

When i want to open the Random Dirk is Great thread, chrome says i shouldn't do it, it contains a site name that is a knows virus source, or something like that. Any other thread i can open without any problem. Is it just me, or maybe something really is iffy with that one?
