So much has happened over the course of this year concerning the upcoming mayor elections in Dallas in May 2007. To start with, the number of Dallas mayor candidates is overwhelming. And political analysts and the candidates expect many more to join the race before the actual elections.
While Mayor Laura Miller decided not to seek another term, all of the candidates must have let out a sigh of relief. However all of them strongly affirm that Laura Miller was never a feared opponent for them, in spite of getting elected twice to the seat of the Dallas mayor. But Miller’s decision certainly made the mayoral election a lot more interesting.
What had the potential to be a crowded field is now almost a certainty. Though only a few candidates have officially entered the race and began campaigning actively, many more are expected to join the long list of Dallas mayor candidates.
Money is an inevitable factor of mayoral campaigns. According to the recent campaign finance reports, Darrell Jordan has already raised more than $200,000 and Gary Griffith is not too far behind. When it is all said and done, these two candidates alone will have war chests stuffed with well over $1 million.
