President Ford--Profile in Courage

As we begin the long goodbye to our beloved President Ford, it is worth noting that his pardon of Richard Nixon--while controversial at the time--later earned him the JFK Profile in Courage award.

As you may remember--John Kennedy wrote a book detailing political figures who did the right thing even in the face of public criticism. The book later became memorialized as an award.

It is so fitting that we remember President Ford is a true Profile in Courage. He spared the country of years of legal grief. Even Senator Ted Kennedy--who initially opposed the Nixon pardon--later reversed his opinion and puiblicly stated that President Ford did the right thing.

America lost a giant. A true American Patriot.
