His shot selection doesn't have a lot to do with no preseason and being out. That's the major issue with him. He had this problem too last season. There is no excuse for Settling for super long 3s like he has.

His positioning on defense has been bad too. Tons of bad position fouls. But that I think relates to his lack of in game reps

Because of the COVID-19 situation, are the rookies not able to practice? They certainly need as much practice as they can get. Right now they just don't look ready. As already pointed out they didn't get the Summer League to help with their development. None of them look NBA ready to me, and before long it's possible we add even more players who are not NBA caliber players. Maybe we luck out and get Barea back though.

@Dallas41 How about THJ? We're missing him too. Also Brunson and a healthy Powell are solid players as well. Eventually I think Powell will look more like his former self.

Yes, and you have to be able to anticipate what the offense is going to do, and take some chances for stealing and/or deflecting passes. Richardson, in particular, seems to be good at that. Some players can anticipate the opposing offense, and some can't.
