I just wish dude would attack the rim more when his shot isn't falling.

And sometimes you can see him play defense when he wants but 80% of the time he refuses to give energy on that side of the floor.

He's a smart veteran guy which is why i get frustrated when he doesn't play smart.

The Mavs really awesome defense this qtr which shows they can do it when they want.

WCS and Luka really led the charge on that end of the floor.

In fact I'm shocked WCS actually got to play most of this QTR with 3 fouls.

THis might have been his longest stretch of the year in terms straight minutes played

Technically that 1st half was a disaster by him.

He's played much better in the 3rd qtr so far.

But if you notice he got away from the 3 point shot started driving more and then once he got some easy buckets on the break it opened up his 3-pt shot shot.

It's kind of KP when you think about it they make the game much easier on themselves when they attack 1st then it gets them in rythm to hit 3's

Hopefully this 4th qtr isn't like his 1st half.

But I do like how he was able to get Murray into that stupid Technical LOL

I didn't understand the closing lineup.

Why take WCS off the floor when he did awesome vs Jokic all night.

Didn't need to double much and then that small lineup for such a long stretch to start the 4th was uncalled for.

Here's why i get so upset with Dallas.

Tonight they decided to play defense only in the 2nd half

They gave up 70 points in the 1st half for the 2nd straight game.

Tonight Denver is currently sitting at 45 points for the 2nd half to me that just screams effort or not being ready to play

But people feel some of us are too hard on the Mavs.

You can clearly see they played with effort on DEFENSE that 2nd half so why does the effort waiver up and down on that end of the floor so often?

I thought some of the lineups later got away from what they were doing to get back in the game.

I think when you have certain lineups on the floor and they are effective sometimes as a coach you just have to ride the momentum and let those lineups carry you home regardless of what set rotation patterns you might have.

WCS was a +17 tonight and Luka was a +8

I thought the Mavs were at their best when those two guys were on the floor so that's why you don't sit them for long stretches because of the sub pattern.

They even mentioned that in the studio after the game Luka sat too long going into that 4th qtr

With Luka you get that LeBron feel sometimes when he was on the Cavs to start his career. Luka has a better supporting cast, but it’s not that much better.

KPs gotta start stepping us as that second superstar.

In 4.5 minutes to start the 4th quarter before Luka checked back in, we managed 3 points...
KP was 0-3.
THJ was 0-2 with a TO.

nuggets scored 10.

yes maybe playing luka 42 or 43 minutes might have won us the game, but geez you can't run him into the ground either. he played 39 minutes which is already a lot.

I mean it is what it is - we are who we are. Luka and seemingly not much else at times. Their inconsistency is what defines them as average. I hope KP can get that turned around soon...

It's all good I agree he could have played better down the stretch.

But as much as people want to say KP is not a consistent 2nd option I still feel as though not having a 3rd option to go to is even bigger.

I still feel when you give up 70 points in b2b games doing the 1st half that tells you something about the effort or the readiness to go.

But based on what I saw in the 2nd half allowing Denver only 45 points tells me some guys are coming out not ready to play. Yes we are missing key players but should be a reason not to come out and give effort to start games?

I've never played NBA ball but guys like Devin Harris and Cedric Ceballos have both stated the same exact things.

They both stated the Mavs are short handed but why does that effect your effort on the defensive end of the floor.

Ceballos stated if you watch the 1st half of this game the Mavs were basically walking through the motions vs the Nuggets 3-PT shooters.

Then in the 2nd half all of sudden you saw guys fighting through screens and and rotating out to the shooters.

They even forced like 2 back to back 24 second shot clock violations

Are we supposed to believe that Kleber, DFS and Richardson are the reason why other guys aren't focused early in games or that without them on the floor you can't at least give a consistent effort fighting through screens or rotating?

Look at THJ's energy in that 3rd QTR did he look like he was incapable of fighting through a screen?

No he played passionate defense so ask yourself why does that light bulb or effort waiver so often?

Not sure if that is good thing or bad thing.

He played a terrific game on Jokic IMO. In fact on back to back possessions in that 3rd qtr they forced the shot clock violations I thought him and Luka were fantastic on both possessions.

Maybe I'm missing something but dude was a +17 the highest on the team tonight.

I thought taking him off the floor late in the game hurt the team more than it helped.

The guy is 25 years old and five years into his NBA career. By then, you pretty much are what you are. I think anyone waiting for him to become a superstar is going to be very disappointed. He's a good, not great player.
