Default dirks contract and franchise player

i was just wondering when we signed Dirk, and for how long? Also what does he make, and when does his contract end?

what does being a franchise player mean? I thought i heard sportscenter talking about dirk being our franchise player.

thanks guys...

A franchise player is a player you build a franchise/team around. They are capable of carrying a team for a whole season. A franchise player dictates the way your offense is run and the players that you surround him with. Is he a low post player, or a slasher? PG or C? I don't know the details of Dirk's deal, but it should be max for 6 years with 2 still left on it.

If you choose to believe this site, Dirk's getting paid out the wazoo, at $13,843,157.00 this year, $15,101,626 next, and supposedly $16,360,095 in '07-'08 which is a player's option.

And franchise player is an adjective, it's not a position or a title. Franchise player is the best player on the team, he's the player that means the most to the team, and he'll dictate through his play how far the team goes.

EDIT: Capital, I posted this while you were making your post, but I forgot to link to it, great timing :P

on that salary page, did you guys notice how little josh howard was making in comparison to the other players. It seems like he will want to re-negotiate to make his contract more comparable with the other players on the team.

Well, he's still under his original contract. There's not alot he can do. He'll get paid when his time comes.
