Its the smart basketball move.

Dirk defending PFs at the perimeter doesnt work anymore and you also dont want Jordan there chasing smaller guys (and losing out on rim protection and rebounding) because you put Dirk against the center and Jordan against the PF

Let Barea and Dirk to their thing against the bench units. I also think Rick is going to RUN with DSJ/Wes/Luka/Barnes/Jordan.

I’m not surprised at all about Dirk coming off the bench this season. He honestly should have been coming off the bench for about 2 years now. They’ve just been so inexperienced in the front court that Dirk has had to start.
