Situation truly sucks for Devin. When he was traded back in '08 it had a lot to do with Avery not able to encourage him. Had a great first season with the Nets in 08/09. All-Star ... got love for MIP. Then 12-70 happens and Avery takes over. Now he wants out again because of him.
Think he would play his heart out if traded here. Just no room in the rotation unless other trades happen and he has a big contract too which the Mavs should scare.

It appears imminent, unless Portland can pull a rabbit out of their hat, but not official yet
EDIT- My twitter is going bananas

I think the signing of Harris signals other moves as well. I know there are issues with ages and positions, but I still think a backcourt of Kidd, Roddy, Jet, JJB, Stevenson is too loaded when we have needs elsewhere.

I see JJB and Stevenson's time being drastically reduced, but RC's but crush, Jet will still backup the SG spot

Its a nobrainer.
I prefer to pay Harris the next two season 17 million than giving Barea a 17/4 contract...
We get again younger and quicker. Kidd/Terry/Roddy/Harris is a great mix. Throw in a vet like Stevenson and you are settled for everything that is coming.
No one need Jones anymore with this 4 main guys...
And Caron can be back over the MLE without a problem...instead of 4 years slightly above MLE he gets then 5 years MLE....

According to Mark Stein, the Mavs have turned down an offer of Butler, Do Jones, and a 1st rounder for Harris. Hope it's not just me but I would be all over that trade. What are your thoughts?

This would suck for Caron, all the hard work he's
put in to get back. Really unfortunate if it happens.

Just if he would be really able to play in the playoffs. Otherwise he can still work to come back and sign with the MLE.

Why? The Nets would more than likely waive him and he could sign back in Dallas before he's even ready to have full contact practice.

I hope that doesnt bite us in the @ss if we trade Butler and re-sign him after he clears waivers. You know Chairman Stern would love to get Cuban with something big.

Your talking about next season though right? That would mean he wouldn't get a ring....

Exactly. He's not getting over a 6-8 month recovery period in 4-5 months...
Trade him, win a ring, re-sign him with the MLE, win another ring. Everybody wins (eventually!)

Given Devin's injury history, obviously he has to go to Portland... where their players are always injured and not playing anyway.
Seriously Portland, shouldn't your #1 consideration when trading for any player at this point to make sure he's sturdy enough not to be injured 50% of the time? Going to trade for another guy who will be injured most of the time? Smart moves up there.

If we trade Caron, they cut him, and we have to wait 30 days to resign, does he get access to all our fancy equipment for rehab? Is there another place he can go or does this actually set back this recovery?
This is the only reason I can see Dallas turning down NJ's offer of Butler, Jones, and a pick...Well, maybe Cuban is just playing hardball and he thinks NJ will take that pick outta there.

I think it is rather unlikely that Butler will come back this season if he is beeing traded. After these 30 days Caron would have to convince our staff that he really can come back at some point in the playoffs. On the other hand: If we can't add depth to the frontcourt there are not many reasons why you won't give it a shot.

we need size/defense at SG as well as a reliabled 2nd scoring option..not another undersized guard to add to our plethora of undersized 2's

Seems Dallas got wind of Utah's interest in Harris, thus the chase to see if Dallas can snag him now....as a possible piece in a Deron trade around draft time.

The real problem is that Devin is just too young for us to bring him back. We'll bring him back when he's about 35 tbh
