Because I simply say that Dirk doesn't TRY to rebound like he should - that makes me an "idiot troll"?

Would I "fit in" better if I got hysterical when people mistakenly start threads about a topic which may have been slightly broached in any one of a dozen 30+ page threads? Or mercilessly derided the (actually stellar as of late) play of JJB for no reason while lustfully riding Dirk's sack no matter how he plays?

If so, just let me know, and I'll try to get on that.

(Heaven forbid anybody even remotely make a less than complimentary observation about our beloved Dirk! Oh, the humanity!)

To get back on track - uh, Dirk's cartoon drawing is the best cartoon drawing of a professional athlete in the world, ever.

Nowitzki back in Shooting Stars competition, looking for a repeat

All those half-court shots that the Mavericks heave at the end of practices and shootarounds - all for fun and a few hundred-dollar bills at stake - are going to come in handy next week for Dirk Nowitzki.

He's going for a repeat this year in the Haier Shooting Stars competition during All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles on Saturday, Feb. 19.

Team Texas will have a little different look, however, with Roneeka Hodges of the San Antonio Silver Stars replacing Becky Hammon . Kenny Smith, a two-time NBA champion with Houston and current TNT analyst, will round out the Texas threesome.

The Shooting Stars requires each team to make shots from varying spots on the floor, including a half-court shot.

The home team from Los Angeles, which won the inaugural event in 2004, includes the Lakers' Pau Gasol , the Los Angeles Sparks' Tina Thompson and Rick Fox , an NBA TV analyst and former Laker.

Team Atlanta features the Hawks' Al Horford , the Atlanta Dream's Coco Miller and NBA TV analyst Steve Smith, a former Hawk.

Team Chicago has the Bulls' Taj Gibson , the Chicago Sky's Cathrine Kraayveld and Steve Kerr, who won multiple championships with the Bulls during Michael Jordan's heyday.

He gave me another shout today...we aren't BFFs, but it's awesome that he acknowledges my existence in his universe.

What do you mean he gave you another shout, BG?

I'd rather Dirk be in the 3 point contest than the shooting challenge.

And Dirk's rebounding lately has been putrid. He is averaging about 5.7 rebounds since he his knee injury against th Thunder.

Dirk Nowitzki gets to his favorite spots quite often. How the Mavericks help him get there is devastatingly simple, but nearly impossible to stop. Sebastian Pruiti breaks it down.
Some nice stuff including diagrams at the link.

52.6 FG% is also a career high.

And the reason for his accuracy is because he isn't having to take a lot of "bailout" hots this year. Those shots where he gets the ball with a few secs left and they say go to work. The shots where he has to shoot over two defenders because no one else can score.

He is taking the easy stuff. The wide open 3s.. wide open mid range jumpers... easy layups/dunks when they are there.

Dirk the house-painter..

http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/pos...e-indefensible

Quote:
Not the type of ceiling we usually talk about

If they need somebody to re-paint the world-famous ceiling fresco at the Residenz in Wurzburg, Germany, we might have just the guy. Asked what he’d be doing if he weren’t playing basketball, Mavericks star and newly confessed Per Diem reader Dirk Nowitzki answered that he’d follow his father’s footsteps and have a painting business.

“Be the tallest painter in Germany,” said Nowitzki. “I’d get all the ceilings without a ladder.”

Nowitzki, now in his tenth consecutive all-star game, says it’s a different experience from the first time he came in 2002, in Philadelphia.

“I was just in awe,” said Nowitzki. “Just being in the same locker room with Shaq, Kobe, KG back in the day, some of the guys that I looked up to -- it was an amazing experience. That will always be something special."

“Then it gets a little more routine and you know the guys a little better and you know the circus around it now, and the whole hype. But the first time I’ll never forget. [It’s] all about soaking it in, getting to know the guys, enjoy the hype around it. I’m sure Blake [Griffin] and Kevin [Love] are both going to have a blast.”

The Guinness World Record was set for three-points shot in a minute by a duo. Allen and Pierce hit 13, Nowitzki and Durant hit 15.

Did anyone see Dirk's dorky ass celebrating Kenny's shot? He didn't even realize it right away that he made the shot, was ready to pick up the ball then in the same movement raises his finger to celebrate.

I know it is a silly comp, but Team Texas was lollygagging it on the halfcourt shots. The key on that shot is "fire em up!"... as soon as the one shot the next one should have got in motion... as soon as you shoot.. get back and grab a ball and go again....

But Dirk was probably thinking: why bother? As if I will ever try one of these in a game....

The team does halfcourt shots for fun at the end of shootarounds. I haven't seen Dirk take a shot though lol.

The half court shot shouldn't even be in the competition. Thats not a skill.

Son of a bitch those Miami highlights hurt. No one outside of Dallas remembers that shot over Shaq. No one......Damnit ff1, my heart hurts now.

On a brighter note, that step back against Memphis was freaking fantastic. I remember that like it was yesterday.

To this day I hate that announcers voice. I won't even think his name.

That step back vs the Grizzlies was so awesome, I still remember my reaction after he sank that 3. I was in my grandfathers hospital room watching the game with him and I went so bizzerk over that shot I got my ass thrown out to the waiting lobby because I was making so much noise.

Ahh memories...

Life after Dirk is going to SUCK .

haha that's funny I know exactly where I was too. I was coming home from a family thing I HAD to go to(I know... I can't believe I missed the game) and I wasn't going to get home in time, so I had my Dad on the phone giving me the play by play. I was probably an hour away from home anyway so my friend and I decided to stop and get some food at a wendys, and we were waiting in line to order in the lobby when my dad gave me the crazy play by play for that sequence and I literally jumped up and down and fist pumped till everyone was looking at me like I was nuts.
