There was an interesting article about him in the DMN today. He is coaching in the USBL, and wants to eventually be a NBA head coach.
I think he would be a nice addition to the assistant coaches. One would think he could teach low post offense to Raef, Dirk, etc.

Read that article too, grbh, and was going to post something about Kareem. If given a chance I think he will someday be a very good head coach. But he would be a nice addition to the Mavs assistants. In the article it said he is more involved with the defense than he is with the offense and likes to coach one on one.
You think he could come in and teach Raef and Dirk defensive positioning, as well as some low post moves?

Key for success to the Bayliss theory.

Too bad the Mantis won't be around to get some help from him.
Enjoy Utah Shawn!

Kareem would be a nice addition to our staff. Maybe he could even play some backup at the 5?

I wondered the same thing about that statement.

Hoping, but I do think it will happen at some point this season, despite the fact that Miller and Cuban hate each other.

I wouldn't mind seeing Bradley shipped out to Utah. I think it would be good for both teams. Shawn would be happy..and home..and the Mavs get rid of a guy that they aren't playing.

<< Winning hasn't gotten old for Abdul-Jabbar
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Associated Press
ENID, Okla. -- It wasn't another NBA title, but Kareem Abdul-Jabbar says he got plenty of satisfaction in seeing his Oklahoma Storm capture its first USBL championship.
The Storm defeated Kansas 122-109 on Sunday before a crowd of 1,100.
After the victory, Abdul-Jabbar, who helped the Los Angeles Lakers win six NBA championships, waved the gleaming trophy above his head as confetti streamed down from the roof of the Mark Price Arena.
"When I played in the playgrounds of New York I wanted to win, that was important," Abdul-Jabbar said. "It doesn't matter where you are. It doesn't matter what level you are in, winning is a great accomplishment and is gratifying."
Abdul-Jabbar helped the Storm overcome a 4-8 start and mesh several new players to win the title.
"Being able to help these guys do what they want to do, to get them noticed; I am honored and thankful for it," he said.
Said Storm owner James Bryant, "This is wonderful. When this team started it was brand new, the players didn't know each other, the coaches didn't know each other, we began to rebuild and that is the way Kareem wanted it. We struggled early, but we began to play well late and the rest is history." >>
Maybe this will give Kareem a better shot of becoming a NBA coach sometime.

If Bradley is to get shipped out, it will be MARK CUBAN being a business man first. He said last year when he resigned Shawn that he promises Shawn will finish his career in Dallas. Well that's looking like it won't come true.

The cold reality of the NBA is that it is a business. Cuban owes Bradley nothing. Part of the nature of this business is that people get traded. Harsh reality.

Shawn was the league leader in blocked shots two years ago and could very well be the best pure shotblocker in the league. If he returns year 2000/2001 form, he could be a real defensive weapon off the bench. He appears to be working very hard this summer to return to form. All we can hope for is that he comes to camp in shape and ready to play. Then maybe Don Nelson will allow him out of the dog house for more than 5 seconds at a time.

I would say that it is bradley that is going back on his word by playing like a knucklehead after signing a contract. He acts like he just doesn't care out there. Mark shouldn't have said something so silly about him finishing his career here, but he was providing bradley with support. Bradley has repaid him with about his worst career ever. Any moves that happens to shawn will be shawns fault, it's obvious that nellie and mark want desperately for him to get back to form.

And there's nothing to keep Cubes and Nellie1 or Nellie2 from bringing Mantis back in a few years for a farewell jeering....
But I've never before heard Mantis referred to as the best pure shotblocker in the NBA.
He's not even the best player whose ONLY remote talent is shot blocking...
