Concern on response to Fortson by Mavs players

I'm sure everyone is happy that Fortson is providing a presence on boards. That's great and the Mavs need that. I read somewhere that even in practice, the other Mavs don't want to be on the other team because he is so physical? What?! I think that's a bitter sweet response to Fortson's play. Sweet: Fortson is tough, scrappy and big. Bitter: Mavs would still like to avoid physical contact. I was hoping that Dirk, Raef, Bradley and especially Najera to relish playing against Fortson. That way, they get used to playing with a banger. The mentality should be, "If they can box out and out rebound Fortson, then it should be easy going up against the other teams players." Who knows, maybe one of the Mavs big men might get tired of Fortson pushing then around and they might push back as well.

Not alot of players in the NBA, much less the Mavs, actually want to play physical.
That is what Walton was getting at when he dissed the Mavs, but he was also referring to the NBA as a whole.

However having the ability to play physical if needs be is very important. In that regard, hopefully having Fortson to play against in practice will better prepare some of the "softies" for going up against other bangers in the league.
