Congrats Dirk on NBA Player of the Week
NOWITZKI NAMED WESTERN CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
http://www.nba.com/mavericks/news/no...010_03_01.html
DALLAS - Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki was named Western Conference Player of the Week for games played Feb. 22-28. Nowitzki earns the honor for the second time this season (also Nov. 9-15) and for the 12th time in his career.
Nowitzki led the Mavericks (39-21 overall) to a 4-0 week with wins at home against Indiana (2/22), L.A. Lakers (2/24) and New Orleans (2/28), and in Atlanta (2/26). Nowitzki averaged a league-best 31.8 points (.548 FG, .667 3FG, .971 FT), including 12.0 points in the fourth quarter, to go with 8.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists. He made 33 of his 34 attempts from the free throw line and saw a streak of 41 consecutive makes snapped in the third quarter of the New Orleans game.
The 12th year pro has scored 30 points in each of his last three games including 37 in Dallas' comeback win in Atlanta where he added nine rebounds and four assists in 46 minutes. Nowitzki's current streak of three games with 30+ points is his first since the 2007-08 campaign.
For the season, Nowitzki averages 25.2 points (7th in NBA), 7.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.1 blocks in 59 games. He is shooting a career-high 90.6 percent (3rd in NBA) from the free throw line.
The Mavericks own an NBA-best seven-game winning streak dating back to vs. Phoenix (2/17). Their 7-1 record since the All-Star Break is the best in the league.
Cleveland's LeBron James joins Nowitzki as Eastern Conference Player of the Week.
The Mavericks play Charlotte tonight at the Time Warner Cable Arena. Tipoff is set for 6:00 PM (FSSW).

Dirk had a much better week than Kidd actually. I love Kidd, but outside of the Atlanta game, he didn't put up very good numbers. (Meh game in Indiana blowout. Played well in LA game, but numbers aren't great, amazing Atlanta game, poor N.O. game).
Dirk is getting undervalued by his own fans when you don't bat an eye at 36/8/7/0 turnover games.
C'mon now guys.

With how awesome Kidd has been.. we have been overlooking how great Dirk has been. We do take him for granted sometimes.

Like I said, Kidd's the man. But look at the other 3 games.
Indy- 10/7/3/0 steals/2 turnovers 4-9 shooting
LA- 14/13/7/1 steal/2 turnovers 4-12 shooting
N.O.- 13/5/9/2 steals/7 turnovers 5-12 shooting
Nothing to write home about.
No trying to degrade Kidd, he's been outstanding and I hope he keeps it up. But lets not try to act like Dirk didn't deserve the award.

If he wins a ring, while also denying Kobe, Gasol, the thuggets, Lebron and Shaq to win one. Then as the final buzzer sounds in the finals he dances around Lebron and ask Shaq, "how does my ass taste?".
Then my love for Dirk will reach its max.

Dirkgreatness, your picture is hilarious.
"It should've been me to win the award!"
"Kobe, you were hurt most of the week."
"Where is the ball, I need to shoot!"

The numbers for your sig are wrong. Dirks already passed Richmond and has 20,571 for his career. Hes only 15 behind ray allen for 31st all time which he should pass tonight hopefully.

I have to admit that I wish I was an equal-opportunity hugger, but my hugs are pretty conditional.

Copy/Paste from a Yahoo Mavs game recap...a fan posted the following:
__________________________________________________ _______________________
WHERE MY DIRK FANS @ dirk for mvp!!!!
Dirk's ability to stretch out the defense and create easy shots for his teammates is SEVERELY underrated for example Jason Terry's highest fg% with the Hawks was 43.6% and with the Mavs it was 50% and 46.3% was his lowest Jet is scoring the same amount of points as he did as a Hawk while playing a full 4 minutes less plus he won 6th man of the year thanks to Dirk.
Now, Jason Kidd's 3 point % has been around 34% for his career but since joining the Mavs its been 46.1% 40.6%,and 42% this year.
Dirk is 1of 5 players to avg.25.5 points and 11 rebounds for a PLAYOFF CAREER and thats 97 games!!! Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Hakeem Olajuwon, Elgen Baylor and I'm not sure who the other is.
Dirk is one of the most EFFICIENT players in the game he avg.1.9 turnovers per game (Bosh 2.1, Kobe 3.0, James 3.3, Wade 3.7, Duncan 2.7, Durant 3.1, Mello 3.1, CP3 2.6, D12 3.1, KG 2.4, Gasol 2.4)its time to give Dirk his props.
oh yeah Dirk has only missed 1(one) 4th quarter/OT free trow all season if you consider injuries also then Dirk is the second best player in the NBA (LeBron James) only missing 35 games for a 12 year career
(Kobe 109 last 12 seasons) (Wade 102 in 7 seasons) (Mello 60 in 7 seasons) as i said before talent means nothing if its not on the court.
__________________________________________________ _______________________
Some pretty interesting stats...now all we need is for Dirk to get that first Championship!!!
