Powell is a baller. Charlie V. is going to have a tough time getting backup minutes behind Dirk.

I keep forgetting that we got Powell in the Rondo trade. So the Crowder+BWright is very comparable to Anderson+Powell. Right now, C+B is better but they are close to peaking in their careers. Give A+P a few years and I think they will be better. So I know the Rondo trade sucked, but at least we've got some promising role players to replace those we sent away.

Not trying to bag on Crawford but I just don't see the purpose of having him here. There is plenty of tape to see of him vs NBA players. We are not running a system in SL so there is nothing being gained from seeing him out there vs 19-21yr olds.
The ball movement is awful, even for a summer league team. The movement away from ball is non existent. Idk if it's players or coaching but it's just abysmal. It's no wonder nobody can hit a 3, with no movement by the ball or players most every shot is contested or just a poor no rhythm shot.
Edit--
Ok nvm I am bagging on Crawford now I don't want to see him anymore for the rest of SL.

Agreed. He jacks up a shot every time he gets the ball and his shooting stinks,

This whole Summer League Squad is terrible. There is 0 Talent besides Anderson+Powell.
Not suprised by poor talent scouting by this staff.

We are just bad at finding young talent. Always have been.
No wonder Cuban stretches the rebuild as far as he can.
Seriously how do you not find atleast a solid 4-5 guys and run a couple of basic systems (they actually have practice)
Its really Powell (gap)..Anderson..(gap)...Pangos/Tyler and than completely nothing.

Mavs went 3/30 in this game from three. How is that even possible?

i agree in that there is zero talent out there beyond Anderson and Powell. I've lost track of how many times guys were wide open only to have a 1 on 2 layup blocked. But given that, it's still a 4 point game with 1 minute left!

At least we are consistent. The Mavs team is the worst rebounding team in the NBA. The summer league team got destroyed 48-29 on the boards. Combine that with the 10 total team assists and 3-31 from 3... just awful. Only reason they were in the game is they made FT's and Wiz were awful at FT's.

So my first game opinion of Anderson and this year's Powell ...
Anderson:
- needs to evolve his 3 pt shot more (starts too low & takes too long to shoot)
- not a lot of hops, so will get his drive to the basket shot blocked a lot
- he knows how to draw fouls which the Mavs really need
- needs to fight through screens more ... but then it's a crappy SL team
- showed good effort when clock was winding down or had chance at a steal
- very similiar comparison to Crowder with possibility of passing him
Powell:
- put on some muscle this off season
- outside shot looks nice and smooth out to possible 3 point range if left open
- body control is very good with some basic moves to the basket
- not the high flyer that BWright was but has significant more offensive game
- i'd like to see him get more physical, but refs are actually calling it tight for SL
This game was so bad, I'm not sure there will be a "Highlights" youtube for it.

There is a lot good things in your summary but Anderson is actually one of the most athletic Guys in this Draft. He has crazy hops just couldnt show it so far. The Problem with his drive isnt the hops its his handles. He has bad handles (which was known as a weakness) and has to be careful to not lose the ball or control thats why the speed for a smooth move is missing

You absolutely can improve speed with training, as can you a vertical.

Yeah, everything physical can be improved. At certain point it takes more effort but in his case it's more about putting in work rather than having natural talent for it.
But argument was that speed can't be taught. It can be taught if your form is bad but after that you certainly can't teach someone to run faster.

No, but a 19 year old can work on his body so he's physically able to run faster.
I agree we need to draft better but complaining about this draft class based on a few summer league games is stupid. Especially when we're complaining about the 52nd pick.

Agree with German Standard....Singh will never make it in the NBA.
You can increase speed a little by hard work and weight control but this guy has an extremely long way to go and I don't see him ever getting to that level.
It wasn't a wasted pick and Cuban will find a way to get him on the court but only as a marketing stunt.
Anyone expecting this guy will be anything other than that will be very disappointed I'm afraid.

Look at the way Singh runs.. so fluid and smooth! Why would you think he isn't going to be a solid NBA player? At first glance he appears to be a superior athlete who just needs some time to grow into his body. Maybe 8-10 years.

Game from yesterday - Wizards 85, Mavericks 79 - Tuesday, July 14, 2015
Highlights: Dwight Powell (18 points) at NBA Summer League, 7/14/2015
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fjcIZSbzXU
Justin Anderson Full SL Highlights vs Wizards (2015.07.14) - 15 Pts
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyJ3sanVTH8
The highlights make them look better than what they really did, but then the rest of the team was .... yeah. But, the positive spin is that both of them have a nice all around game as seen from these videos.
The next game is tonight at 7:30 PM vs LA Lakers but I don't see it on the guide so not sure if it will be televised free of charge.

I still think it's hard to evaluate Powell and Anderson's offense from the standpoint of there being next to zero ball movement. Mekel looks amazing compared to the guards in terms of being a guy to get the flow of offense going for summer league games.
--Edit--
I will add that I did like how Anderson started getting aggressive with drives when his shot wasn't falling.

singh can't play in the nba, or dleague, or europe and probably neither in china, that's it, i still don't get it why we wouldn't pick one of the harrison twins..we could've used them, can they still play in the dleague even if they went undrafted?i mean maybe we can get one of them in the future at least

Lets see if we can atleast get one win in SL against the Lakers. Will be tough, bad teams usually have good SL Rosters and they have D'Angelo Russell, Nance, Clarkson and Randle.
So this will be a really good test for Powell and Anderson against proper competition.

Good start. Anderson looks great and Jeremy Tyler is really one of the few brightspots besides Powell and Anderson.

Powell just shot a very Dirk-like drive and spin into a midrange jumper.

First decent Quarter of SL Ball and Russell isnt impressive hes actually very bad in this SL.
Tyler really earned a chance for a Roster Spot in TC.

Seriously, I don't get it either. He takes the ball away from Anderson so much.
