Successful Scenario
Due to Golden State and Houston being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Golden State and Houston had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Why would/wouldn't this trade work fine for all three teams?

GS gets cap relief, and more athletic.
Atl gets an athletic PF to run with the young SG/SF's they have as well as a PG.
Hou gets what it needs -- a true dominant PG to lead and an expiring contract. I think this would make them much more scary.

This move wouldn't put any of them over the top this year, but would get them much closer, IMO, for the future.

GoldenState could get so much more for Baron Davis. Besides, they need to hang on to that back court of Davis and Richardson and build around them with defensive minded dirty work role players.

I think ATL would drool at the thought of playing Marvin Williams and Swift side-by-side at SF and PF respectively as it would probably be one of the most athletic SF-PF pairings in the league. ATL could also use a better PG than Ivy and Lue, but I'm not sure if they'd want to take on Alston's contract which has 4 years left on it. I think they'd rather wait until the offseason when they could go after a FA like JT or Mike James (who'll probably opt out of TOR) in the offseason.

JT will never be back in atl. THis is a flat out terrible trade for houston. Davis just takes the ball out of Tmacs hands. Davis isnt a good pg let alone a dominant one. he puts up numbers but he is a chucker and he effs up an offense like no one but steve francis.

Stromile Swift is a bust. I doubt that Atlanta would want to let go of Harrington for him.

I was a huge Baron fan at the beginning of the year, but after watching all of the games (my creent home team) thus far this year, he is the point guard version of Antoine Walker. Sure, he has his moments and a few top 10 caliber plays, but he is the epitome of all flash.

And I agree with Mah, Atlanta would/should be able to get alot more for Al Harrington although Skip to My Lou has been playing pretty well as of late.

Al Harrington will probably walk at the end of the season. Marvin Williams is the future in Atlanta.
