Successful Scenario
Due to Golden State and Houston being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Golden State and Houston had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Why would/wouldn't this trade work fine for all three teams?
GS gets cap relief, and more athletic.
Atl gets an athletic PF to run with the young SG/SF's they have as well as a PG.
Hou gets what it needs -- a true dominant PG to lead and an expiring contract. I think this would make them much more scary.
This move wouldn't put any of them over the top this year, but would get them much closer, IMO, for the future.
