Default Blockbuster Trade that Should be Made

JAZZ GET:

Jason Richardson
Adonal Foyle
Al Jefferson
---------------

T-WOLVES GET:

Carlos Boozer
Derek Fisher
Monta Ellis
Kris Humpries
---------------

CELTICS GET:

Bracey Wright
Keven Garnett
----------------

WARRIORS GET:

Paul Pierce
Eddie Griffin
Gordan Giricek
-----------------

Reasons why JAZZ do the deal: They get a nice defensive center and a big-time scorer from the 2 spot along with young stud Jefferson to replace Boozer at PF. Boozer has worn out his welcome in Utah.

New lineup

PG-deron williams
SG-jason richardson
SF-andrei kirilenko
PF-al jefferson
C-mehmet okur
------------------------

Reasons why TWOLVES do the deal: They get humhpries who went to college at Minnesota and is a hometown favorite and they get rid of garnett who wasn't very happy in minny and get a solid player, boozer, who can get a new start in minnesota. Fisher is a guy who could help them off their weak bench and ellis has huge pontential...basically they try and build for future...

New lineup

pg-marko jaric/fisher/ellis
sg-ricky davis
sf-kris humpries
pf-carlos boozer
c- marc blount
----------------------------

Why Celtics do the deal: Pierce was putting up good numbers, but it wasnt getting them any wins. In the deal they get a huge superstar in Garnett and young bracey wright who grew up in boston. They replace jefferson with garnett at the 4 and hope garnett can team up with wally again and try to give the celtics some team chemistry which is cuurently missing...

New lineup:

pg-delonte west
sg-wally szcerbiack
sf-gerald green
pf-garnett
c-perkins
----------------------

Why Warriors do the deal: Giricek is a good spot up shooter and could battle with pietrus and dunleavy to start at SG., who would improve under baron davis. Pierce and Davis would be a sick combo and eddie griffin gives them a terrific shotblocker and high energy player.

New lineup

pg-baron davis
sg-gordan giricek/pietrus/dunleavy
sf-paul pierce
pf-troy murphy
c- griffin or diogu

All the salaries work match up, what do you guys think?

I think you'd have to make sure the salaries match, but otherwise:

- GS would have 4 guys on the floor who can shoot the 3, so they wouldn't mind that;
- I doubt Garnett, at this stage in his career, would want to go to a non-contender like BOS with all its young and inexperienced players. The older you get, the more winning a championship becomes important to you.
- Anyway, if I were BOS and I wanted to get Garnett, I'd just try a straight trade with MIN:

Minnesota Trade Breakdown

Outgoing
Kevin Garnett
6-11 PF from Farragut Academy (HS)
21.7 ppg, 12.0 rpg, 4.4 apg in 39.2 minutes

Incoming
Al Jefferson
6-10 PF from Prentiss (HS)
8.3 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 0.6 apg in 18.6 minutes

Dan Dickau
6-0 PG from Gonzaga
3.3 ppg, 0.8 rpg, 2.1 apg in 12.5 minutes

Paul Pierce
6-6 SG from Kansas
26.4 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 4.5 apg in 39.3 minutes
Change in team outlook: +16.3 ppg, +1.2 rpg, and +2.8 apg.

Boston Trade Breakdown

Outgoing
Al Jefferson
6-10 PF from Prentiss (HS)
8.3 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 0.6 apg in 18.6 minutes

Dan Dickau
6-0 PG from Gonzaga
3.3 ppg, 0.8 rpg, 2.1 apg in 12.5 minutes

Paul Pierce
6-6 SG from Kansas
26.4 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 4.5 apg in 39.3 minutes

Incoming
Kevin Garnett
6-11 PF from Farragut Academy (HS)
21.7 ppg, 12.0 rpg, 4.4 apg in 39.2 minutes
Change in team outlook: -16.3 ppg, -1.2 rpg, and -2.8 apg.

Successful Scenario
Due to Minnesota and Boston being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Minnesota and Boston had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement

MIN gets a perimeter shooter (among other things) in Pierce to replace Sczerbiak, plus a backup PG and a nice young PF/C prospect.

BOS gets Garnett, arguably the best all-around player in the league.

Golden State is already concerned about whether it wants to keep Pietrus because it sees a potential logjam at the 2/3 with him and Dunleavy, I don't think they would want to bring in a mediocre 2-guard in Giricek to exacerbate the situation. Additionally, I think you underestimate the value the Celtics place on Al Jefferson, the kid is a big part of their future and they see him as a key component of the core that they have been trying to develop, losing Pierce and Jefferson for Anyone (even Garnett) would get Ainge run out of town. Lastly, I think everyone would agree that the Wolves would demand more for KG than Boozer and Derek freakin' Fisher? An oft-injured, under-sized, hairy-chested PF who can't play defense and a career backup tweener guard. Wolves fans would go absolutely ballistic if that deal went down.
