ah i see others are just as stoked for the season (and apparently couldn't wait for the regular season to be closer...) - I guess this thread will be for spring training as well as regular season?
i don't think we'll get to 100 wins but i'm gonna say 96 wins for regular season and AL West champs again.
Go Rangers!

This'll be my last Rangers season living in DFW. I'm moving to Seattle in the fall.
I normally go to half a dozen games a year, but hopefully I'll make more this time.
Is it strange that I may go to every single Mariners-Rangers game once I'm there? They've got a series the weekend before grad school starts. The tickets will be much cheaper.
As for predictions, one win better than last year. 97-65.

How come you numnuts haven't chimed in to let me know what I'm supposed to think about the Darvish debut and other assorted things? Chum needs info!

Looked good. Breaking balls were excellent, fastball command wasn't quite there yet, I didn't think, but he'll be fine. Interesting to see him out of the stretch the whole time, which I understand he started doing more last year in NPB.

NASTY was what he was. Mixed reports, but I have heard he had somewhere around 9 swinging strikes in 2 innings. He got hit hard 3 times, 1 being an out, and he was lucky not to give up a HR. That said, for his first time out in a pressure situation, dude was seriously good. 3Ks over 2 innings is quite nice - but needs to get the pitch count down (36 pitches - though 26 were strikes). That curveball that K'd Quentin - wow.

Will he be a much better version of Koji Uehara? That guy pounded the strike zone but always got hit hard and far.
Also, Feliz pitches today! Interesting

I wouldn't compare him to Uehara at all. One's a reliever..one's a starter. Uehara got hit around a bit here in Texas last year, but was spectacular for the O's. I don't expect Darvish to get knocked around hard. I expect him to be a borderline ace..possibly more.

Darvish pitching at 3PM today, 50 pitches. Finally a game we can watch for free on MLB.com!

Next week, it begins! Also, Game of Thrones. Whoever decided to put the two in the same week certainly deserves a round of applause!

I'm disappointed Colby is the opening day pitcher. Nothing against him, but I really think it should be Holland.

I have tickets for the first two games, but now I want some for the 4th game, on the following Monday, for Yu's debut.

Yu's game vs the Rockies was awesome to watch. 11ks in 6 innings, if he can reproduce in the regular season, is just unreal.

Let's do this thing! Still a little afraid to see Colbster on the mound at home.
Danny Pudi from Community is at the game, it's worth noting. Rooting for the wrong team.

Koby 8 SOs in 5 innings. What the heck is going on? Has he been holding back?

Opening day = success! I'm sunburned. It felt a lot hotter out there than the temperature read. Mid 70s, I thought that meant it was gonna feel good. Well it didn't. Who cares though. All that matters is...HELLO WIN COLUMN!
Good start to the season for Kinsler and Hamilton. Beltre and Nellie, not so much. But they'll get it going soon enough. Going to another one tomorrow!

btw, do you notice the changes they've made out in CF? I didn't even know the Rangers were doing that until I saw it. Now the visitor's BP is parallel to the field like our BP is. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fiasco with LaRussa in the WS?

Hey, I had almost that exact same seat for Game Six against the Tiger last year. Great times!

We're not two games into this thing, and the wheels have already shot all the way off.

Shutout win. Harrison was good, and so was the BP. Got the long ball going tonight. Next game: Darvish time!

looking forward to darvish pitching though don't think i'll be able to watch...
anyone use mlb-tv or any other such way of getting games? worth it?
i'd like to see darvish start out by striking out the first 2 hitters, then intentionally walks ichiro in his first matchup out of respect, then finishes by striking out their clean up hitter. he can then go on to strikeout ichiro the next 2 times he sees him.

We missed Yu's first pitch because FSW didn't get back from commercial in time. That is an inexcusable fail. And now Darvish is getting hammered. Two runs in and only one out.

Is it fair to call Nellie a below average defender?

No. He takes weird routes sometimes but he's faster than you realize and he has a fantastic arm.

The kid needs to get out of this inning without giving up a run. Measuring progress in different ways than I expected to tonight.

Darvish has gotten better every inning. And now he is in line for a W if our BP can bring it home. The Rangers offense had Yu's back tonight.
