still have the spurs in 5 -- their only real challenge is going to be Detroit in the finals, because they can't match up with Chris Webber and Duncan will be out on the perimeter guarding Weed Wallace.

I don't think at this point in his career Webber is much of a threat to the Spurs. I think Horry, Oberto and Elson will do find guarding him. He's no Amare.

He's no Amare, but he isn't Ben Wallace either
C-webb still has some semblance of an offensive game.

League looking into Bowen's actions in Game 3
By Marc Stein
ESPN.com
For the first time in an increasingly contentious San Antonio Spurs-Phoenix Suns series, Bruce Bowen is officially under the league's microscope.
An NBA spokesman confirmed Sunday night that Bowen's third-quarter knee to the groin of Suns guard Steve Nash in Saturday's Game 3 is under review for possible punishment.
Nash declined after Saturday's game and again Sunday to voice any public displeasure with Bowen's physical play. But the league decided anyway to conduct a full investigation into this incident after declining to do so when Bowen was accused of intentionally kicking Amare Stoudemire in Game 2.
Stoudemire called Bowen and Manu Ginobili "dirty" players after the Game 2 tangle, in which Bowen admitted he "did clip" Stoudemire from behind on a dunk.
If the league decides to fine or suspend Bowen, that announcement would come before Monday night's Game 4.

The league is funny.
If Bowen gets suspended, I better see at least 2 Warrior suspensions. WHat a bunch of bs this will be.
Bowen deserves it, btw; but for the league to pick and choose the spots where it suits them to suspend someone, is rather interesting.

I think all this talk from Suns players and coaches about playing for revenge will force the league to make a move. If the game turns into a blood bath it will be on Sterns hands.

Bowen won't get suspended. If anything he may get a fine, but I even doubt that. If he does then what happens when Shaun Marion makes contact with a Spur and the Spurs use that incident and the black eye he gave Ginobili and say that Marion's dirty and now needs to get suspended? The league doesn't want playoff series to turn into just a contest to see who can come up with the most demerits on the "dirty ledger" to try and get other teams players suspended.

I doubt he gets suspended either. It's hard to really prove intent, even if it seems obvious.
Besides, I don't want him to get suspended, I want the Spurs to win.

The refs have an interesting interpretation of the rules.
Nash getting preferrential treatment IN the restricted zone. Bad call.

I can't watch this game, but listening to the Spurs' announcers, it sounds like the Spurs are again forcing the Suns to play a slower tempo. The Suns have cooled off considerably since the opening minutes, and now it's a seesaw battle. Amare on the bench with 2 fouls.
Outside of Game 2, it seems that the Spurs just have the ability to force the Suns to play an uglier style of basketball than the Suns are accustomed to playing, and that suits the Spurs. I'd be surprised if the Suns win this game 4 and tie the series.

Suns have scored 16 points so far in the 2nd quarter. That's not good enough to steal a game in S.A. They need someone to get it going on offense --- the problem is that without Nash getting another player going, the Suns don't really have any player that can just create offense on his own in this type of game.
I think Barbosa has a mental block against the Spurs in general. Nash with 4 turnovers to go with his 6 assists in the first half.

Did Marion's shot at the buzzer count, or was it after the buzzer? Spurs' announcer seemed to think that the shot was in time, but it didn't show up on Yahoo Gamechannel...
Either way, less than 20 points for the Suns in the 2nd quarter. They are playing decent defense, but they are really going to need to find their outside shooting touch, or get some of the Amare/Nash pick and roll action going, if they want to even up this series. Otherwise I think Spurs have a pretty good shot at closing this thing out in 5 games.

The thing is, though, CWebb, that these Spurs don't appear to be capable of separating much from the Suns. So, no matter how it looks now, the chances are very good that Phoenix is always going to be one hot streak away from taking the lead.
The Spurs want to kill you softly, with body blows all night long. But as long as the Suns still have the ability to throw a knockout punch they are never out of the fight.
Should be a fun second half.

It didn't count. And I think the Spurs will have a very hard time closing this one out in five.

You're right about that Chum.
Every time the Spurs have the chance to push the lead out a little, they turn the ball over. They had more offensive fouls than you would expect from a SA team. They also look a little timid on offense at times.

I may just be relying too heavily on the Game 3 outcome, but the Suns had plenty of chances to go on a little hot streak to steal that game, and they couldn't get it going at any point to make a serious run. The Spurs just kept a little lead the entire second half, even though the Suns were within a few possessions the entire game.
Unless the Suns change something in this second half, I'm just having a hard time believing that this will be the game where the Suns pull even in this series.
On a side note, it's not a good sign that Kurt Thomas is now the leading scorer for the Suns at this point in the 3rd quarter.
Duncan with 3 fouls...

here's a question for the Suns: if Duncan is not in the game, how in the world are the Spurs getting all of these open three-point shots?
Suns starting to shoot better, but so are the Spurs, and now the Spurs have their 11 point lead --- they have the chance to just hold the Suns at arms' length again for the rest of this game and take a commanding 3-1 series lead. I'd really like to see the Suns make this series competitive.

alright, 12 minutes left for the Suns. Someone needs to step up and start playing well for them to make a run. Hey, wonder if the Matrix still thinks he should be the feature of any offense. I'd be interested to know his ppg averages against the Spurs for the last three years.

Suns have had chances, but no one can hit a big shot --- Barbosa just missed a three after Nash missed a jumper.
One point per minute to this point for the Suns in the 4th quarter (3 in 3). I'm disappointed in the Suns, to tell you the truth.

At some point, to me it becomes more about the effect the Spurs have on the Suns than the Suns "not having it". It's pretty much a playoff pattern the last two series these teams have played over the past 3 years.
Maybe the Suns can still turn it around tonight, but if they don't, then they're going to need to figure out how to win enough games (or lose enough) to avoid the Spurs until the conference finals next year.

this Suns' team isn't going to advance until Amare learns to pull his head out on the defensive end. He's picked up a couple quick fouls, and now has 5. A player with his athleticism and size should be a dominant defensive player, but Amare is a player the Suns have to hide on defense so he doesn't get himself in foul trouble and take himself out of the game. [rant about Amare over for now]
Duncan with 5 now? Wow.
