Dallas Stars Press Conference, 7/25...

Thoughts about today's press conference.....

The fact that they had the press conference is clearly the Stars saying "Here is our team," "this is pretty much going to be it." No more moves, but dont be suprised to see something around Xmas, when we're looking at Anaheim and San Jose duking it out for 1st, and we suck....

Because this isn't a hockey town, none of the mediots there asked the obvious question,"where are the F'ing GOALs going to come from here people?"

The answer is that Modano, Lehtinen, Morrow, and some of the younger Fins are going to have to step it up major league, and hope that Zubov has another big year perfecting that 2 line pass he worked so hard on last year. But it doesnt look good. The pressure is on Marty HUGE because of the loss of goal scoring, and because his stellar backup Hedberg was allowed to just walk out of here. And Armstrong gets a 3 year extension as a reward for such aweful roster management.

The New Guys....

I like Barnaby, and Halpern well enough. I love bringing Sydor back. I think Lindros is some god aweful deodorant for the stink of losing Jason Arnott.

However, I think the chemistry for this new group could be amazing. Problem with hockey is though, you can be hot in November, and then suck in April. (See your Dallas Stars, 2002-2006)

I've said it before, I think Lindros is a one-year flyer. I have no problem w/it as long as it is a set-up for Army making a splash next year when the FA market is better. This is a transition year. It was the right decision to let Hedberg walk, we need to figure out if we have anything w/Smith & Ellis or else it's time to start drafting goalies again. I don't love the moves, but I do think they needed to shake things up.

Watching the Rangers game...they just interviewed Lindros in the stands. Welcome to Dallas, big guy.
