Jamisonite is on a distinguished road
Default A "Sweetheart of a Deal"

Dallas trades: SF Antawn Jamison (15.8 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 1.0 apg in 30.2 minutes)
SF Tariq Abdul-Wahad (15.8 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 1.0 apg in 30.2 minutes)
PG Tony Delk (6.6 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 0.8 apg in 16.3 minutes)
Dallas receives: SG Ruben Patterson (7.8 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 1.7 apg in 23.7 minutes)
C Zydrunas Illgauskas (14.1 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 1.4 apg in 29.4 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -0.5 ppg, +3.3 rpg, and +1.3 apg.

Portland trades: SF Rasheed Wallace (17.0 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 2.8 apg in 38.5 minutes)
SG Ruben Patterson (7.8 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 1.7 apg in 23.7 minutes)
Portland receives: SF Antawn Jamison (15.8 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 1.0 apg in 40 games)
SF Tariq Abdul-Wahad (15.8 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 1.0 apg in 40 games)
PG Tony Delk (6.6 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 0.8 apg in 29 games)
SF Darius Miles (8.9 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 2.2 apg in 36 games)
Change in team outlook: +6.5 ppg, +2.1 rpg, and -0.5 apg.

Cleveland trades: C Zydrunas Illgauskas (14.1 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 1.4 apg in 29.4 minutes)
SF Darius Miles (8.9 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 2.2 apg in 24.2 minutes)
Cleveland receives: SF Rasheed Wallace (17.0 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 2.8 apg in 34 games)
Change in team outlook: -6.0 ppg, -5.4 rpg, and -0.8 apg.

TRADE ACCEPTED

And heres why

Portland...if they are thinking about TAW and AJ for Sheed then they should certainly do Patterson for Miles and Delk

Clevland: They want another scorer. Ive read that this trade might go straight up. Cleve gives port Z n miles for sheed...but you gotta throw in Dallas

Dallas: Id honestly rather get Z over Wallace. With this trade we get a set rotation pretty much. I love pattersons intensity. We may need a perimeter defender more than we need a low post blocker

Our Rotation
Z/Bradley/Dirk/Fortson
Dirk/Walker/Fortson
Walker/Patterson/Howard
Fin/Howard/Daniels
Nash/Best/Daniels

Brings up that same old interesting question to me.

Would you rather have a legit center who isn't the all-around player as someone else?
Or
Would you rather have the superior player who is versatile enough to do anything?

If it were anybody else but Patterson, then yeah. He's already stirred it up with a couple of players this season, and last season's playoffs.

Almost any deal that ships Wahad is a sweetheart to me.

Dallas: Dallas does this trade to get the inside presence that we've been in search of for so long as well as the intense defense that Patterson brings to the table. We have more of a set rotation and our players can focus on playing their true positions ( well dirk atleast)

Portland: Portland does this trade to revamp their lineup and bring in new talent as well as new character while sending Sheed to the Leastern Conference. They accomplish that with this trade.

Cleveland: Cleveland is the only team im iffy about on this trade...im not sure if they're willing to take the risk of Sheed walking out in the offseason thus leaving cleveland with nothing in return. I like the acquisition though for 2 reasons ...1) Sheed can thrive in the east 2) cleveland has a lot of money to offer sheed in the offseason

Overall I would say Hell Yes to this trade for Dallas..and it seems as though it should be pretty enticing to the other teams involved.

Great trade proposal Jamisonite.

Change walker for Jamison and I'd do it. Otherwise, no.

AWFUL AWFUL idea, sorry.

(1) Z would not help the Mavs. He is a Center. He is big, so he has some O and gets a few rebounds. But he is slowwwwwwwwwwwww - he can barely get up the court (seriously) and he has questionable feet (history of repeated injuries). He is TERRIBLE on defense and decent on O - which is the opposite of what the Mavs want.
(2) Write this down and dont forget it - Mark Cuban will NEVER have Ruben Patterson on the Dallas roster. Cuban has made that clear. There are "issues" that make him an automatic "no" at any price.

I disagree that Z wouldn't help the Mavs. He's not what I'd really call an intimidator defensively, but I'd rather have him out there than Fortson 90% of the time; he is averaging two blocks a game, and with his height he'll alter more than that. He also rebounds fairly well, and is an effective low-post scorer. Whether or not he would help them enough to justify getting rid of one of the Big 5 is more debateable. I've waffled on him a bit. Initially I wasn't that interested, but after watching him a little more came away feeling better about his game. He wouldn't be a part of many of our fast breaks, but you don't need 5 players running a fast break. If the first 3 or 4 can't get the job done you're usually better off getting set anyway. That said, I'm in no rush to break up the team, so RIGHT NOW the answer is no.

I disagree, Z provides an inside presence that we desparately need while patterson gives us an energetic defensive player. Provide me with direct quotes where Cubans has expressed such thoughts on Patterson

I don't know if he has expressed such a concept in print. But I have a couple of extremely reliable "sources" shall we call them, who both have told me "Ruben will not EVER play on the Mavs as long as Cuban is the owner" and said it in such a way that I have no doubt he has drawn a line on it. You can specualte all you want about trades, but (as I was told) you are really wasting your time even thinking about Ruben being obtained by Dallas at any time for any price.

Without question! I know for a Fact that the Mav's Management Hates Ruben Patterson. So does half of the Mavs players(at least the half from last year.) He will NEVER be in a Mavs uniform, I can promise you that.

OP - if you want to go ahead and postulate all the Ruben Patterson trades you want, thats fine. I am sharing info that I know; I am not trying to "prove" a point in an argument, just trying to help those who are looking at options to explore.

If you don't like me sharing info that I have been given by some who know, suit yourself, don't listen. ~shrugs~

Well, since I've never proposed ONE trade in 20 months on this board, I doubt that I'll "postulate" one about an idiot like Patterson. You pulled that one out of your ass...and you were still wrong. That's so lame..it just defies discussion.

Since I don't think that you have "2 reliable sources"....you think that I should post a trade for Patterson. ? That's more brain dead than a coma.

Every 3 months, we get some goofball who claims to have " 2 reliable sources"....

Thanks for your "valuable info"...nonetheless. It will be filed appropriately....right next to the posts from "Jason Whitten" and the others who always claim to "know someone".
