Holy shit, you're a teacher...
I totally get the "not being able to talk to people" thing... I used to live in Dallas, but moved back to Austin last year... Pretty much everybody here is obsessed with UT sports (#NotMe #UNT #Denton #90s #LSD #Jazz, #Jungle), but when it comes to the NBA this is mostly Spurs country (with a little Rockets salad-tossed in because Texas).
D-M is/was my only solace.

What's funny is every time I go to Austin and wear Mavs stuff I get compliments.

Hahaha please dont take my comments on D-M(especially a GDT) as a gauge for how I educate these little rascals. I only teach Math, but they are regularly reminded of the greatness of Dirk.

Nah, I was kidding... If they teach Texas History, then Dirk Geometry should be a subject.

Well Trump wants to shut down parts of the internet. With all the self-radicalization that occurs on this website, I'm not convinced that this DJ character is not a Trump operative laying the initial groundwork for Trump's inevitable crack down on free NBA thought. Trump and his buddy Putin are obviously Nyets fans.

Oh noooooooooo, sorry to hear about the shutting down of the site.
I am just a long-time lurker, but I can't imagine that this site won't be around anymore.
This makes me very sad and I will definitely miss this forum.
Big thanks to all who contributed to this site!
@Male30Dan: Congrats on your 1st place in Arcade. I am alright with 2nd place.

Damn. Gonna be a sad day. Never imagined this place ending before Dirk even hangs em up. Been the only place to go these last 12 years. Damn.

It seems very silly to me that this is a foregone conclusion...
Someone else could take over hosting rather than a complete shut down.
I messaged DJ, no response yet.

He isn't the only teacher around here I guess In my case at university level.
On a serious note: I'll gonna miss this place a lot. I was still lurking here whenever I had the time, but that wasn't often during the last 2 years. Too much to do in real life. Additionally, at some point you're not able anymore to pull yourself out of the bed night in and night out here over the pond if you have to work on the next day. And during the weekends you need some proper sleep. I am still following my Mavs whenever I can, but due to the reasons mentioned above it I had to make strides.
I'm still having my acc on spurstalk (same name), although I'm rarely active there anymore. Additionally, I'm posting every now and then on realgm (different name). Twitter I don't use.
But what I witnessed here stays with me (I read here before joining). And the climax was the title in 2011, just an amazing feeling to celebrate it with all you goofballs. It was a pleasure to be here, to say it with Dirk's words: It has been an amazing ride. Thanks and goodbye.

2) G-Man: 20,786 rep in 2,189 posts = 9.4

But yes, you are off the charts... I'm far above average at 3.3 (over 3.0 = top tier).

I assume I didn't have enough posts to qualify.
Sorry to see the site going down. If only there was a way to keep the "Official Dirk is Great Thread" going!
Seriously though, great community with great Mavs/basketball conversation. I've enjoyed lurking over the years and will miss the unique insight this type of fan forum provides with the multi-persona effort of analysis, fan-gasms, wishful thinking, and "real" talk.
Wish everyone the best and I might finally create a twitter account to follow a lot of you guys. When you're an expert level creep, you can't let that talent go to waste. Cheers!

This is a tough one.. Most of you guys weren't around back when we had Mavs watching parties.. when the BBC sent someone out to interview some of the people here on this site..
Definitely some tough news. No, the site hadn't been as much a part of my life the past few years, but I definitely spent/wasted a lot of good time here.
I guess I'll have to give Twitter a try. I may be the last 30 something year old person to learn what the heck Twitter is.. just never had a need for it. I suppose I will now.

If these boards are to be miraculously saved, then people need to post here more. The lurkers need to give us their thoughts more often. I sometimes talk to myself in the GDTs. If anything, those are what need more volume.

Agreed. But you also have to see and look for us here over the pond not being in our 20's anymore and unfortunately have some real life Nothing in this post is meant against your idea

Hey, I'm knee deep in the responsibility game, but I figured we all have smart phones. A post or two a day will keep the doctor away!

Sad. I think it's age. This is my second long-time group forum shutting down in the last two months. The other one was an online gaming group that I'd been involved with for 15+ years. What are the odds of that? Like many others, My twenties and 30's are long behind me, and as I look at moving into my 50's later this year, I see people loaded up with responsibilities and obligations that leave little spare time for past indulgences. I've been a member and lurker far longer than my current ID and have always thought this forum had the best content and personalities of the lot. It'll be missed.
My all-time Mav highlight will be attending Game 6 of the Finals in Miami when the Mavs finally got a ring. What an absolute blast. My wife and I waited outside the arena for the Mavs to load up on their buses with about 50 other Mav fans. Dirk, Cuban, and the whole team came out. It was a blast, and I even got to give the championship trophy a nice little pat when Cuban was holding it and brought it over to the fans who'd waited. Ahh, the memories! Fun stuff!

Is there a way we can archive all the classic threads somewhere? Would be a shame if those vanished into the ether too.

That sucks. I mostly lurk but have done my share of posting back in the day. I did notice A Change over time with hostility pointed to new thread creators. I could sense that new visitors weren't received as warmly as they were early on. Just my opinion. How does Clutchfans get so many posts? What do they do differentLy.

While I haven't posted all that much the past few years, it's sad to see this site finally getting the boot. After all, it's hard to untangle my Mavs identity from all of the time spent on these boards, posting my Mavs HSO's over the years.
But before we administer last rites, maybe we should see if robillion can't pull a miracle and get the board a stay of execution.

Really sad news.
I don't post much, but this board was part of my daily routine for over 10 years.
I hope there is a way to save it.

And imagine us Mavs fans from outside the U.S. Our only source of Mavs discussion is those boards... I guess ill have to reactivate my Twitter account. Or go to DB.com. Sigh.
Lots of great threads and discussions here. I'll miss this place. I've been a lurker much longer that my account suggests because it took me a while to start posting. But let's hope someone takes over here. And in the meantime: Go Mavs!
