Is it safe to say KP has more than “back tightness” if he is missing his 4th straight game? He actually had me fooled into thinking with a healthy offseason and a new coaching system he would resurrect his career, but it looks like it’s going to be the same old story with him.

KP did have a healthy offseason. But this is the regular season now...so injures are back in play!

Mavs should be slaughtered so not expecting much.
Net RTG
Heat - 1st
Mavs - 23rd
Offensive rating
Miami - 4th
Mavs - 27th
Defensive rating
Heat - 1st
Mavs - 9th
Both teams are top 10 in defense. Miami has one of the best offenses in the league. Mavs are in the bottom five in offense.

Come on Miami, rest the big guy, get that knee right.
I have a weird feeling this is the game Luka goes super saiyan, but that would require making more three and his freebies...

I'd be okay with a Nancy-Kerrigan-style hit to get his cap space cleared via injury exception. The worst thing about KP is that he's gobbling up 1/3 of our cap, which is preventing us from getting players via FA.
People cry about the FA season we had, but our FA season was bad because KP sucked up all the space.

Man, Lowry 8 ppg on 33% shooting? Mavs fans would have burned the city down if he was doing that for us at 30 million a year.

I've resigned myself to the fact that we are stuck with KP's garbage contract and garbage game for two more seasons after this one at which point he will join the Lakers for some $5 million a year exception.

Tim MacMahon: Kristaps Porzingis is “progressing” and will “hopefully” play tomorrow night vs. Spurs, Jason Kidd said. Porzingis is out for fourth straight game due to lower back stiffness. Maxi Kleber will be out at least 7-10 days due to an oblique strain. – via Twitter espn_macmahon
Tim MacMahon: Unvaccinated Mavs guard Trey Burke will miss his second game this season due to not being available during the COVID testing window. He forfeits those game checks. – via Twitter espn_macmahon

Let me get this straight, Burke can be unvaccinated as long as he submits to COVID testing, which he isn't doing?
Cut him and be done with it. He's hurting the team.

Mavs haven’t played well against the teams with good records - even though it is early in the season. I expect that trend to continue unless Luka has a monster game and THJ shoots better than 50% from the field. You just never know!

Excellent D from both teams to begin. Including from Powell on Bam.

Great start from the Mavs. We're moving the ball very well. I like that Brunson is more assertive with the ball and looks to push it or move it regardless of what Luka is doing. I realized I criticized the same thing before, but it looks good this game.

So Cuban makes it that all fans have to wear a mask to watch a game at the AAC, and he is sitting next to the bench wearing it as a chin diaper?

Just punish him inside Luka

What is Powell doing? Going full KP. Gets the ball early in the shot clock and decides to put it on the floor for a turnaround jumper.

Love me some Dwight Powell smh
Defense isn’t so keen against great offenses. I wonder if they’ll look at doing something about Miami’s 3 pointers 9/14 64% vs Mavs 8/23 38%
Miami scored 46 points second quarter

Good news is Brunson step forward is here to stay. He’ll be a staple all season thanks to his ability to move the ball around.

I'll be the 1st to admit this but I often wish he gets into foul trouble so that way he comes out the game.

I will never understand the Shaq hate for Luka.
Trying to compare Herro to Luka is flat out asinine. Thank god Charles was there

I understand Carlisle and his staff liking Powell, but what does the new staff see in him to warrant him playing? He’s a smart player, but his abilities are lacking. Are we not better off giving big Mo some run?

This goes back to Luka, KP and THJ
They apparently vouched for Powell starting.

KP and Kleber are injured, man.
Boban is situational at best
Moses is just raw AF
