I haven't watched the game almost at all so I have no idea if he or the Mavs actually played any good.

This is true. Kyrie IS a great defender. He has a great feel and great fundamentals. And he also has all sorts of trickery as a defender. He can be a great nuisance as a defender. And defense CAN give him consistency. And it is ALSO true that he doesn't have to score 25 points to have a great impact on the game.

BUT HE DOES NEED TO MAKE 6+ ASSISTS.

HE IS A GREAT BALL HANDLER, AND DRIBBLER. HE IS GREAT AT CREATING AND EXPLOITING SPACE. HE MUST PRODUCE ASSISTS. AND BE IN SITUATIONS TO PRODUCE ASSISTS.

15 points and 7 assists CAN BE a great game for Kyrie. That means that he got OTHERS going. Those 7 assists are 14 points given to Lively, or PJ, or DJJ, or whoever.

And Kyrie can be one of the team leaders on defense. Setting the tone. Setting the energy. Setting the attitude. Communicating with Luka on that. Ensuring they always remain on the same page with that attitude and tone. That they avoid dips and dips in concentration.
