TEHRAN (AFP) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has assured UN Secretary General
Kofi Annan of his complete support of a UN resolution that ended the war in Lebanon, Annan has revealed.
"He reaffirmed his complete support for (Security Council) Resolution 1701" which halted the devastating month-long conflict between
Israel and Hezbollah, the UN chief said after talks with Ahmadinejad in Tehran.
He added that Ahmadinejad had agreed that
Iran, which backs the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah, would "do everything to support the territorial integrity of Lebanon and the independence of Lebanon".
"Tehran will work together with us in a collective effort to reconstruct Lebanon," he added.
