RE: Preseason: Mavs vs Bucks
at least four times they have thrown it down to Damp and have had it stolen...is it bad passing or Damp's lack of hands?
in 16 minutes damp 4 points and 5reb

mabye when people say Damp has hands of stone they really mean he doesn't protect the ball.

Benga not looking oto bad is he? He might actually be worth having on the active roster, if he keeps up this kind of play.

I hope those who attended the game have more exciting reports than what this game appears to be.
5 steals for Harris.

I don't know. The way Harris is playing sounds exciting to me. Although it is against a team with Mike James as its point.

RE: Preseason: Mavs vs Bucks
Yeah, Harris is having a nice game despite the bad shooting. He's made up for it by betting to the ft line. 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals and 2 blocks.
Dampier needs one rebound to get a double-double. **Nevermind, he just fouled out as did Howard.
I just meant the game overall isn't very exciting. There are a few positives.

No turnovers on the 4th, certainly an encouraging stat.

A few positives are all I need at this point (especially when the positives come from the point). I am already resigned to the fact that the Mavs are going to look ugly and dare I say boring alot this season.

E for Effort.
Much better than the last 2 games. Promising game with Stack, Daniels and Dirk out.

Well, if you're looking for encouraging signs JT and Devin combined for 12 assists, 7 steals, and only 1 TO. Granted it's heavy minutes, but in relative terms those stats are awesome.

I think Dirk not being their put some ergency into their minds. (Rookies, Josh n' Terry) I like what i'm hearing but then again I'm not. Lets keep the critisism to a small amount, Pre-Season fellas.

I was there, and i have to say that the most impressive person was DJ mbenga. He jsut provided so much energy and was such a force inside (at least on defense). He is very raw and goes after every block (pump fakes would kill him), but his energy was tremendous.

RE:Preseason: Mavs vs Bucks
I was at the game tonight, and first off Dampier looked awful, everytime its seemed like he posted up he couldnt seal off the defender and the ball was stolen or his hands were made of stone bc he couldnt catch anything. Also he was gettin outplayed by Pauchullia, which was very disappointing to me. JT didnt play well the first 3 quarters but really stepped it up and played like the guy i expect to see here in Dallas, DJ was very active and had some nice blocks. Fin looked good and was hitting his jumpers. I thought Harris played great with the execption of the last play were he couldnt get a shot off. Henderson showed absolutely nothing. Josh Howard played very well both on offense and defense. Overall the mavs played a decent game, but the offensive looks stagnent and is a work in progress, we need everyone back healthy so we can build chemisty bc there is none right now. On a side note, the refs are really calling fouls on the ball like they said they would, i couldnt count how many times both the bucks and mavs were whistled for fouls above the 3pt line when pressuring the ball

make a couple more of those shots and cut down on those tip aways(TO) and I'm a happy man...

Okay, it's nothing earth shattering, but I would say it's pleasantly surprising. I think we're going to enjoy having this guy back on our side. Nellie knows how to use him; I think Nellie in some bizarre way looks at Booth as the Bill Russell he's never had. That's probably going WAY too far... maybe I'm just reflecting on how I USED to look at Booth.. Call me nuts!

My boy Harris played pretty well too, especially after Orlando. Not bad compared to the other games for everyone. Booth, although he shot poorly, is far above my expectations so far. Go Mavs

Yeah, I'm just going by what I'm seeing on the stat sheet since I didn't get a chance to watch or listen to the game. Just so I won't ripped into total shreds by everyone here, remember everyone, those were relatively lean times back when booth first came to the mavs...

I love how they cut down on TOs. The box score I see only shows 10 TOs for the team. If Nelson can get the team to improve that much over a few days, then he deserves to stay in town.

RE: Preseason: Mavs vs Bucks
It is inspiring that the guys that will actually be getting minutes are finally starting to play so well... Terry, Harris, Booth, Dampier, Finley, and Howard all had good numbers and when you factor in the absense of Dirk, Stackhouse and Daniels, you can assume we will be OK when the season rolls around...
Lets not forget to mention that we only had 10 turnovers in this game!!! BELOW last year's average!!! Progress was made today...

Devin Harris will be a star in this league. He has got the quickness of Tony Parker and can also dunk the ball. Him, marquis and howard just tell me mavs have a great great future.

HOWARD.... man, the guy COULD be quite the player... I hope injuries never seriously set him back.
Marquis too... I just wish he didn't have to sit out during this preseason. Hopefully, he'll be able to just jump in whenever he's healthy and pick up where he's left off. It seems like he might have the knack in him

I'd add Dickau to that, provided he stays around long enough to matter.

word fuzz.. haha
But I agree with sike that this was a step in the right direction. I don't know how much it will actually be worth in the long run, but hey, some peope actually think that game against the sonics (when dirk dunked over Ewing way back in the day) was dirk's "turning point" game. I never really saw it as THAT big of a deal, but who knows? Yeah, definitely now I'm getting carried away. I'll stop now. Good night all..

RE:Preseason: Mavs vs Bucks
Signs point to progress for Mavs guards Terry, Harris
By EDDIE SEFKO / The Dallas Morning News
Speed is Jason Terry's thing. Anybody who's initials are J.E.T. – Jason Eugene Terry – better be fast afoot.
The new point guard doesn't know slow. That's why Terry's sluggish start to his Mavericks career is hard for him to take.
"It's two weeks in a whole new system," Terry said. "It's going to take some time. But I see strides. There's going to be good things."
Waiting, however, is the tough part. Terry and rookie Devin Harris have the hardest jobs in camp, and not just because they're following Steve Nash. They have to learn Nelson's system from scratch, and no point guard has been able to do that in an expedient fashion.
But Tuesday's 107-105 exhibition loss to Milwaukee gave a glimpse that both point guards are making headway. With the Mavericks down to eight available bodies by the end, it was difficult to make any judgments off the game. But everybody agreed it was the point guards' best outing so far in an 0-3 preseason.
"Both of them performed well," Nelson said. "The rookie's got a lot of game. He's going to be awfully good. And Terry had his best game. It's been very slow for him, but the last two days, it's really clicked in practice. He doesn't have the gifts Steve had, yet he can be a very effective player for us."
The game was choppy, what with 67 fouls and the absence of four Mavericks: Dirk Nowitzki, Jerry Stackhouse, Marquis Daniels and Shawn Bradley. Terry finished with 17 points and six assists. Harris had 16 points and six assists, although he fumbled away a pass from Terry just before the buzzer when the Mavericks were trying to get off a potential game-winning 3-pointer.
"I'd like to have that last play back," Harris said. "I was in the right spot. The plan was to catch and shoot it."
Said Nelson: "It was a good lesson for the rook. You have to go through those things."
