PGT: Mavs prove there is more than one way to skin a cat
Good win on a b2b.
Refs sure did let them get away with a lot in the second half. Poorly officiated game. We got away with some calls as well, but they were thugging it up in the second half.

Any time you can hear Captain Jack screaming expletives over the home fans, it is not a good day to be a Bobcat fan.

Nice to see Kidd with a great shooting night from downtown but Terry dropped below 33% for the season. Stevenson isnt anymore so automatic if he is completly open, that sucks.
Chandler was pwning them in the 1st half.
Bobcats just suck. They couldnt defend Barea and their offense was terrible all game long. They should blow it up.

Yikes, I didn't realize Jet's three point % had dipped that low. His midrange game has been pretty good, but wow, can't believe he can't hit threes anymore.

I like the Cats announcers. They compliment the opposing team and aren't huge homers. Mavs announcers are the best, but they're up there. It's refreshing to have non-homer announcers unlike the crap in SA, Boston, Houston, Chicago, OKC, etc.

2 bad things
Second half rebounding was attrocious, if we rebound the ball even ok in the third quarter we easily win that quarter by double digits and go into the 4rth with 20+ point lead
Finish was beyond bad some really bad possessions down the stretch
also Chandler didn't play good in second half

How about Dirk with 4 blocks tonight? His defense was really nice. He had his strip move working. You can't stress enough how cerebral a player he is. He could have easily had 7 assists tonight if guys hit wide open shots. He's always making the smart pass. Also, I like seeing his low-post moves. Had the nice running hook on Boris (missed the 1st, hit the 2nd) and another nice step through lay-up (which he executed perfectly on KG twice as well). I'd like to see him on the low-block for at least 5-10 possessions a game.

Dirk was awesome but as usual he does the weakest and1 in the entire league, i hate that so much. Tonight again like three times.
All of Kidds TO were also completly unnecessary.
That was the two really annoying things. And that we couldnt hit several open three to push the lead to 20+ so they can give DoJo some courttime.

A crapload of blocks tonight and alot of stripped balls (lol) as well.
Anyone know the number of minutes logged by Kidd and Dirk tonight?

A bit high for Kidd being the tail end of a b2b, but it's okay. He's probably getting the worlds greatest body massage right now.
Dirk with some good burn in this game. I still don't understand him playing in spurts though, could be the knee issue? Either way, he still pwns everyone's faces.

It's just been the game-plan to continue getting his wind back. Even before the injury, he had those spurts to line up with Barea coming into the game.
Kidd usually gets those world-class body massages before the game.

The Mavericks continued their winning ways in multiple forms with their 101-92 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats. Dallas extended their current winning streak to eight games and they remain undefeated against Charlotte. The eight-game winning streak marks the longest active win streak in the NBA. It is also the Mavericks’ second-longest winning streak of the season (won 12 straight from November 20-December 11). They have now won nine of their last 10 games, after they lost six straight from January 6-January 17. Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry led the scoring charge for the Mavericks. After building a comfortable 18-point lead, the Mavericks withstood a late rally by the Bobcats to secure the victory on the second night of a back-to-back.
With the victory, Dallas recorded their 14th straight victory over Charlotte. The Mavericks have gone undefeated (14-0) against the Bobcats since Charlotte expanded into the league in 2004. Dallas is the only team with a perfect record against Charlotte. No other team has recorded 10 consecutive wins against the Bobcats (Milwaukee won nine straight beginning in 2004-05). The Mavericks’ average margin of victory in the previous 13 wins was 10.5 points.
With the victory, the Mavericks swept the regular season series with the Bobcats. The Mavericks have now swept five Eastern Conference teams (Charlotte, Boston, Atlanta, New Jersey and Miami). Dallas has been swept by two Eastern Conference teams (Chicago and Milwaukee). Overall, Dallas is 16-8 against the East.
The Mavericks continued their success in the back-to-back games scenario. Dallas is 7-3 in the first half of back-to-backs and 7-3 in the second half of back-to-backs this season. The Mavericks have 20 back-to-backs scheduled this year, after they played 20 in 2009-10. Dallas went 15-5 in the first game of a back-to-back and 12-8 in the second game of a back-to-back in 2009-10.

There is still a chance Peja suits up for Monday.
He and Roddy have been working out in Dallas during the weekend. There haven't been any reports of setbacks with Peja, so it's possible he'll play on Monday.

Cavs would certainly be a nice slow pitch game to get him integrated.

They can dictate the situation too. There is a b2b in the middle of the week, they can sit him out for one of the games. Then the following week is a b2b in the middle of the week before the ASB.

#2 seed is back in our hands! Pretty arbitrary but I love being up there again and I love seeing the team continue rolling. Im really excited to see this team with another three point shooter and a guy with a unique skillset like roddy with a team that is already flying.

last night i decided to throw in nba 2k11 for the first time in a month or so and played an nba today game of mavs vs bobcats. i was up by about 20 with 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter with auto subs, carlisle subs in peja! i didn't even realize he was on the roster. so first possession i get peja wide open for a jumper at the top of the key, nothing but net. next possession, steal and fast break, peja open for three on the wing, swish. ended up winning by 28. peja 2-2 with 5 points. can't wait until monday

Reading the box score, I see how our Mavs changed over the years. Remember when we used to say "we shouldn't NOT have a center on the court at all times!" to Little General or Nelson? Well:
Player -----Position--Minutes
T. Chandler---C------34:38
B. Haywood---C------13:22
Total minutes played by centers at center position: 48:00
I know most people over here kind of take that for granted, especially if they're new to the Mavs.... but not me. GJ Carlisle!

In line with that qualitative assessment, I didn't get to see any of Brendan's second half minutes, but I thought he was back to being Good 'Wood in the first half. Did that hold up?

Grand, I'm not sure he was really "good." He was more not noticeable out there. He didn't do anything stupid and/or wasn't lethargic. And that is sad that paying a guy 10 million a year just to not be "lethargic."
I didn't know it at the time, but the more I watch Haywood the more I realize why he couldn't beat out Etoe for the majjority of minutes on a lot of nights. I am sure Eddie Jordan couldn't stand his lethargic play too.

Didn't see it myself. I was just thinking of all those times the past 5-10 years when I was wishing we could get 48 minutes of actual center play (curse you Nellie!) or 10 pts or 10 rbs from the center position (curse you Dampier!). Now, suddenly it seems, we're getting 48 minutes of true center (thank you Chandler and Wood!) and 10 pts and 10rbs also (thank you Chandler!!!)

The high minutes bit - without which double-double's just don't happen (as a careful evaluation of Damp's stats will tell) - is all down to Tyson, IMO. He's the first legitimate center the Mavs have had in the Dirk era who can both: a) be enough of a factor on the offensive end that you'd almost never think of taking him out of the game to get one more scorer on the floor except in an an end-of-quarter designed play situation, and b) move well enough on the defensive end that you'd almost never think of taking him out of the game because of a small ball matchup vulnerability.
That said, Nellie wasn't the only Mavs coach who's demonstrated a willingness to play without a center, and with Peja and Booby in the fold I don't think it's all that far-fetched that Dallas might give a little time to some lineups that have Dirk at the 5 over the next few months.
