You really don't know he is doing it "all for the money". You should have prefaced your post accordingly.

I believe he is doing that. Not that it matters that much. Just as long as we don't greatly overpay for him.

You seem to have the inside track on Mayo's inner monologue and motivations.

That's bull crap!!!!!! Mayo could be in Phx right now making about 10 million a year. He came here because class A organization and great coach that could make him better.... Plus he believes he can help this team get back and win another title. Please don't put mayo in that class of lame money hungry player because that's not who he is.

Or he thinks he could be a max player. That is why he needed another year to show his skills of more than just a good role player.

The contract year myth has been proven wrong with facts to back it up. Players breakout at lots of different stages in their career.

If that were the case then he could have picked a terrible team where he will get to jack shots up.

I believe this to be the case. Also, I think this about the majority of players on this roster in similar situations. Kaman, Brand, OJ, DC...

Erick Dampier and Brendan Haywood ring a bell? Both getting lazy after their big contract.

Both of those guys were already working toward the end of their careers. Josh Howard might be a better example. However, none of the players mentioned have 1/10th the talent Mayo does. So trying to sign him long-term is a no-brainer in my book.

Last year was a contract year for OJ.
