I'd rather have Dirk sit out back-to-back games and 3 games in 4 nights type of situations than to have him come off the bench permanently. I think in the playoffs he has shown he can still rebound if he's determined to, although his defense is still a minus overall. In the regular season I think he does take possessions off because he can't deliver in the full 30 mins he plays. I can see his mins cut a bit more to around 25-26 but less than that he won't be effective and have a good rhythm.
Only situation I see him coming off the bench is if LMA is onboard, which I find it to be a long shot. Absent of any big name FA, I wouldn't mind seeing Tyson, Monte, Aminu, and Devin Harris back. I think Rondo and Amare are gone. Their replacements should hopefully be 3-point shooters or defensive stoppers (or both). |
