Their bench is even worse this year and they only have two scoring options... I think they're going to win 50+ but I don't think they'll push for the 57-60 win range.

Related: That James Harden trade is officially one of the worst in NBA history.

Absolutely no question about that one. I'd be livid if I was an OKC fan.

A few surprises. Memphis is going to have a precipitous drop off. Denver will miss leadership and the frenetic energy of AI. GSW will be good, but their inefficiency will kill them. LAC will win 57 games but will flounder in the playoffs and have 1-2 nagging injuries all year. Pelicans will surprise a lot of people by winning 43 games. New York will flouder with team chemistry and culture.

Agreed. I think people get fascinated with draft picks and unless it is a top 5, you need some great scouting to make it worth while.

That being said, it would be hard for a small market team to afford 3 max guys

Top 4 seeds in the West are:

OKC
Spurs
Warriors
Clips

The next tier of teams is:

Memphis
Houston

The next tier is:

Mavs
Blazers
Wolves
Lakers
Nuggets

Next tier -

Pellicans -
Jazz

Out of it:

Suns
Kings

I really like the Warriors chances to win the West but those other 3 up there are really tough. I think OKC found something in Steve Adams and Lamb is going to be really good off the bench. I think I'd pick the Thunder right now but I'm sure at some point in the season I'll pick the Spurs then the Clips then the Warriors.

Maybe the Mavs can crack the Griz/Rox tier but even though I think they make the playoffs, I believe it is more likely they miss out than hit the top 6. one of the Jazz or Pelicans may step up and compete for a playoff spot but ceratinly not both. The Jazz have the power game but I like the star power that the Pelicans may have in Davis and Holiday. If gordon and Evans are healthy they won't be fun to play at all.

Here is the East predictions:

Top tier - I have the feeling that Miami doesn't make it out of the East this year. Just not sure if it will be Indy or Chicago.

Miami
Chicago
Indiana

Battle for the 4 seed - The battle for New York is the battle for the 4 seed but Garnett and Pierce bring a lot of toughness to that Nets teams. I like them better to be a playoff factor. Plus if the Knicks look bad maybe the Mavs can get Chandler back.

Brooklyn
NewYork

Next Tier - this next group could produce some really good teams or some really bad teams. I really like Detroit, Washington and Cleveland but really have no idea how this group pans out,

Detroit
Washington
Cleveland
Toronto
Atlanta
Boston

Out of it - these teams will be in the Wiggins hunt

Milwaukee
Philly
Orlando

some of you guys need to get away from drinking all of the Kool-Aid.

I actually think it will be a really really hard fight to get into the Playoffs with this team and we probably will play around 7-10. If healthy i see us making the Playoffs if not...well not. One long injury to Dirk, Calderon or Ellis and this team is toast. Btw we also need Calderon and Ellis to really step up to the hype not like Collison and Mayo.

In no specific order, I see LAC, SAS, and OKC duking it out for the top 3. GSW, DAL, HOU, MEM battling for 4-7. And MIN, POR, and NOP battling for 8.

I'll attempt to be more serious now.

1. Golden State
2. San Antonio
3. OKC
4. Memphis
5. L.A. Clippers
6. Houston
7. L.A. Lakers
8. New Orleans
9. Dallas

The last preseason game against Indiana has me scared. If I were a Clippers fan I'd be afraid of what's ahead after this first loss against the Lakers. That was just ugly!

Mavs have a decent shot at the 4 or 5 spot.
