John Jenkins
So i guess its safe to say he has made the Roster.
Cleary the best player of the Scrubs weve seen this Preseason.
Averaging 20,3 Points in 3 Games.
I really liked him in some games for the Hawks, its good that he is very cheap, still young and we have him for 3 years.
Will probably be the 6th Man coming off the bench for scoring, like a "Terry-Light" Version who can deliver instant offense and 3s.
So we may start the Season like this:
Deron/Barea/Felton
Harris/Jenkins
Anderson/Evans
Dirk/CV3/Powell
Zaza/Mejiri/Dalembert
Looks depressing i know but I dont think we will rush Parsons and Matthews back so i see them out for atleast the first Weeks.
After that it will be sth. like this:
Deron/Barea/Felton
Matthews/Jenkins/Harris
Parsons/Anderson/Evans
Dirk/CV3/Powell
Zaza/Mejiri/Dalembert
I left McGee out cause we still dont have a clue if hes able to play Basketball.
If he comes back its a decision between Mejiri or Dalembert for the 15th spot.

Why would you start DH over Jenkins in your scenario?
Then when we're healthy you have DH way down the bench and as SG only, no PG. No way should Felton get any available minutes that DH could have.

Is Deron Williams even healthy? Last I heard he had issues on both calf muscles.

apparently it was a left hammy and then he complained of a right hammy. Suspicious, but not totally unexpected. I just hope he eventually gets healthy.

If I put my foil hat on I start to think his hammy will magically heal when Dirk is ready to play.

Weird thing is that Dirk isn't injured. I imagine that Dirk will be "ready to play" when Matthews gets healthy. I guess there's no need for Dirk to start wearing himself down if he'd just be playing with reserves

Jenkins reminds me a bit of Kevin Martin.

Haven't really seen enough of Jenkins but what little bit I've seen could I dare say he has a little Steph Curry in him (on a much smaller scale of course)?
At least in terms of stature and style of play or is that pushing it?
That was my first impression of watching him play.

The more general you keep your comparison, the farther you can stretch it... I think Jenkins looks like Michael Jordan because he's taller than me and throws balls through metal rings for a living.

Atlanta fans also thought he was Kevin Martin like.

His pre-draft note comparison was Redick. I can see both.

Totally agree and now that you mention it... His crossover/step back was very Iverson like. Because the ball went in, and I can't do that.

LOL...but seriously from what I saw he did have some of the same skill sets as Curry but obviously at a much lower level.
Lets not take things out of context UD.

Like him quite a bit as well. For now, finding guys like him--talented but unproven, and therefore extremely cheap--is the only thing the Mavs can do to work themselves back into relevancy.

Indeed, plus the last time we took an undersized scoring guard from the Hawks it turned out pretty good.

Yeah, but didn't they get the better end of the deal by taking Walker from us?

Looks like Jenkins has really improved his handles and he looks quicker than I remember him.

Those handles lead to 7 Turnovers last game including 3 in the 4th after the throw in that lead directly to 3 1v0 Dunks/Layups

Just wondering? How many minutes do you guys think Jenkins will get once Wes is healthy (assuming D-Will takes more time)? I find it very hard to figure out, how our backcourt rotation will look like minuteswise. I assume Jenkins won´t get more than 10 min - just a feeling.

8-12 mpg (10 average) is exactly what I was thinking myself.

Well I think he's being overextended in that regard due to injury. In the regular season he won't be handling the ball nearly so much. I'm happy to see him getting lots of opportunity to handle it more in the preseason. One of the knocks on him was ballhandling. Regardless, he looks quicker and more confident with the ball to me
