Whining after a game can only lead to referees reflecting on their performance and might lead to improvement.

Whining during a game is a whole different story and can only be called trying to influence the referees. It doesn't include having seeen the play from a camera point of view or in slowmotion, it' only about one guy from one team putting pressure on the referee in order for him to get the next call.

But you see Murph, what the Spurs fan likes to do is say that during a game it is ok to whine. But they don't say anything after the game, so they are not whiners. That has been the arguement here for the past few comments. Pretty ridiculous arguement.

Do this for your own benefit (as well as for the benefit of those of us reading this thread). Next Mavs-Spurs game, get out a circle of paper and a safety pencil and draw a line (on the paper...with the pencil) each time you see a Spurs player look utterly confused, exasperated, and indignant when a referee calls a foul. Now, perhaps you are wondering what kind of behavior might warrant a line - I would say anything where the Spurs player looks upset - nay, downright offended that a foul was called on them and approaches the referee after play has stopped with prostrated hands as if to say, "C'mon...you didn't really mean to call that on me right? I mean...c'moooooon." That's a line.

You may or may not wish to do the same thing for Mavericks players so that you can back-up your claim that Mavericks players complain as much as Spurs players.

Compare the number of lines you have on that circle of paper with the number of total fouls called on the Spurs and Mavericks, respectively, that game.

Get back to us with the results.

Thanks!

I enjoy opposing team fan bashing as much as the next guy..but the racial slurs can stay out of it...

edit: If you are going to complain about racist comments, please don't quote the actual comments.... or else your post will get edited to remove them.

What paper comes in circles? Could I get the same effect by using a regular 8 1/2 X 11" sheet? Or would it be less visible?

Ralph here is an example of the sort of individual who would require paper that comes in circles.

Idk if there is another thread just for this..but i m tired of hearin all the bitchin..about how the Spurs had no rest after the Sac series. That was their own fault for lettin it go to 6 and i bet if we went to 7 or somethin no one would b sayin that we were tired... they would just say that its our fault and the Spurs are kikin our ass. So they need to stopp the bitchin bout the REST and the REFFS and play BB. GO MAVS

Are we really arguing about who complains more?

Face it, if your an nba player and you get called for a foul, more likely than not your gonna complain and whine about it. Arguing about who complains more is like arguing who has more money the guy with 10 billion or the guy with 9.8 billion. Does it really matter?

i've seen some racially tinged comments in some of these posts now, and i just want to say for anyone who is doing this, that they should be completely ashamed of their behavior.

it disappoints me, quite frankly.

Man, you guys are sad.

Listen, i know the spurs complain in the games. But that's better then complaining in the game and out of the game as well. Plus, the fact that Cuban is the ultimate complainer in the league, and he owns your team says something as well.

what are the odds that if cuban didn't do all the complaining he did, the Mavs players would. We don't even get to see the full bitching from them cuz Cuban handles most of it for them.

I dare you, game 3, instead of watching the spurs, see how much the Mavs complain.
I guarantee you'd be surprised.

Also, for the times spurs complain, please check the replays, and see if they don't have a
case. You'd be amazed at the amount of times you'd see the player has a case.

There's a difference between complaining just to complain, and complaining cuz you are in the right.

Also, about Manu being a flopper, yea he is.

But you've got a flopper on your own team, and amazingly, it's your star player.

The guy is easily a top 10 flopper. The worst is all the stumbling the guy does. watch him drive and see if he doesn't automatically start stumbling like he can't walk properly

You'd think he was getting pushed over, but the contact isn't even enough to move an 8year old child off his pivot.

That is TOTAL BS.

Everyone who complains thinks they are right. The officiating is so inconsistent that every player on every play for every team is right about one instance. Mark Cuban has been very correct in his observations about officials -- that doesn't matter, he still shouldn't complain to the media or directly to the officials about it.

There needs to be a way to get the problems resolved without the constant complaining to the officials, but some allow it, and others like Joey Crawford don't allow it. Some officials are star struck like Dan Crawford. Some seem to have an agenda when they hit the court like Steve Javie. Some are just awfully blind like Palmer, and Bavetta.

Quote:

He is learning. He isn't anywhere near top 10 though. Not even close. Vlade, Manu, most of the guards of the eastern conference, all the Phoenix Suns, the Collins boys, Darrell Armstrong, and the Barry boys are all much better floppers than Dirk. In fact, I wish they would let Dirk know where the school is, so he could get some of the classes in the Manu has taken. I am guessing Manu is going to be starring in a movie after his playing days, and a casting director will hire him from tape of his acting on the court. The man is brilliant with his trickery of the officials. Manu doesn't have Pau Gasol beat in the "foul scream" though. Pau is a master at getting fouls called by screaming every time he doesn't score, and sometimes when he does (gets the call 80% of the time with some officials).

Dirk may stumble, but to compare him to Ginobili's flopping is ridiculous. Case in point: Dirk stumbled on the last play of game 1. He did not effin complaint. Had that been Ginobili, you'd see his annoyed face like 'OMG! NOES, HE JUST TRIPPED ME' while flailing like he's doing the wave. Like I said, he flops like a soccer player from Argentina.

There's a reason why Dirk goes to the ground on the drive. It's not because he's trying to draw a foul. He's stated in the past that he sometimes goes to the ground to keep from his foot landing wrong on someone elses foot and re-spraining his often injured ankles.

Quite bullcrap. He usually falls after the shot and he isn't trying to draw a foul. In general he sort of goes limp to keep from twisting his problemattic ankles.
