Default New Orleans Mayoral Race

Early returns have Louisiana Lt. Governor Landrieu (28%) leading Nagin (19%) and others. There could be a runoff as the split is too distributed. This was an early report so take it with a grain of salt. You never know about Louisiana politics.

An update from CNN.com.....

New Orleans voters cast ballots Saturday in what has shaped up to be one of the most unusual mayoral elections in U.S. history. Returns indicated Nagin and Landrieu may be headed for a May 20 runoff vote. With 415 of 442 precincts reporting, Nagin had 39 percent of the vote, Landrieu 28 percent and Forman 17 percent.

Runoff virtually assured.
