Amare to have knee surgery
Amaré To Undergo Knee Surgery
October 1, 2007 - 8:04 pm
RealGM Staff Report -
The Phoenix Suns today announced that center Amaré Stoudemire will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee tomorrow, Tuesday, October 2.
Team orthopedic surgeon Dr. Thomas Carter will perform the surgery to remove a loose body. Carter performed microfracture surgery on Stoudemire’s left knee in October 2005. The 24-year-old Stoudemire will miss 2-3 weeks and is expected to have a full recovery.
The two-time All-Star and 2007 All-NBA First Team selection averaged 20.4 points and a career-high 9.6 rebounds last season, playing a full 82-game season after missing all but three games of the 2005-06 campaign due to injury.

This kind of reminds me of an article I read somewhere after the original surgery that postulated that even if Amare could recover from the microfracture procedure in one of his knees, he might well damage his other knee by overcompensating during his prospective rehab and comeback. I wonder if this 'loose body' removal might presage additional problems to come...

There was this Indian guy with a body inside of him on Nightline. His unborn twin brother, that had been feeding off of him his entire life. I wonder if that's what Stoudemire has here.

Isn't that how the Greg Oden thing started, as an exploratory/ clean-up procedure that later became arthroscopy AND microfracture surgery keeping him out all year
An exploratory arthroscopic surgery performed on Greg Oden today revealed cartilage damage to the Portland Trail Blazers rookie's right knee. Oden will miss the 2007-08 NBA season.
"Greg had an arthroscopy and a micro fracture surgery today," said team physician Dr. Don Roberts, who preformed the surgery. " He was found to have articular cartilage damage in his right knee. The area of injury was not large and we were able to treat it with micro fracture, which stimulates the growth of cartilage. There are things about this that are positive for Greg. First of all he is young. The area where the damage was is small and the rest of his knee looked normal. All those are good signs for a complete recovery from micro fracture surgery."
Not saying that this will be Amare's outcome, but Greg's procedure seemed innocent and turned out to be season-ending.

That accusation is pretty uncalled for and I think Nash could sue for libel.

Back in the day, almost every basketball player wore knee pads.
You can still buy them at Academy. They're literally called basketball knee-pads!

Amare doesn't play for Golden State so this doesn't really affect the Mavs.
